The intake therapy session is the first step in your journey towards healing. Our first session will more specifically the following elements: 1. Introduction: This will include an introduction of myself, my experience and my therapeutic approach, while explaining the purpose of the intake session. Use this as your opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process. 2. Background information: During this phase, I will gather relevant background information about you, including your personal history, family background, mental health history, and current concerns. This allows me to better understand you and tailor my approach to meet your specific needs. 3. Current symptoms and concerns: This is where you will have the opportunity to discuss your current symptoms and concerns, including any mental health issues you may be experiencing. It is my opportunity to gain insight into your current struggles and assess readiness for therapy. 4. Treatment goals: We will work together to establish treatment goals for therapy. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and influence each other. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, individuals can learn to reframe their thinking in a more positive and realistic way. This, in turn, can lead to changes in behavior and emotional well-being. One of the key benefits of CBT is its focus on practical, problem-solving strategies that can be applied in everyday life. Therapists work collaboratively with clients to set specific goals, develop coping skills, and practice new ways of thinking and behaving.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy is a form of psychological therapy that incorporates the practice of mindfulness, which involves paying attention to the present moment in a nonjudgmental way. One of the key principles of mindfulness-based therapy is to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and sensations in the present moment. By doing so, individuals can learn to better manage stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. This increased awareness can also help individuals gain a better understanding of their patterns of thinking and behavior, leading to positive changes in their overall well-being.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT helps individuals learn new skills to manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in a healthy way. The therapy is rooted in the dialectical philosophy of balancing acceptance and change, where individuals learn to accept themselves as they are while also working towards making positive changes in their lives. One of the key components of DBT is skills training, where individuals learn four sets of skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Mindfulness helps individuals stay present in the moment and manage difficult emotions, distress tolerance teaches strategies for coping with crises without making things worse, emotion regulation focuses on identifying and managing emotions effectively, and interpersonal effectiveness helps individuals communicate and assert their needs in relationships.

When first meeting Kailyn I spoke about my intentions of seeking out therapy. She met me with a warm and solution oriented plan. Kailyn never judges me for what I have been through or the conversations that we have. I truly feels that she cares about me and my success. I feel like she in my corner on bettering myself for the future.
