*Only Saturday sessions available at this time. Any weekday openings are reserved for current caseload of clients.* Hi, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and Vermont. I've been practicing for over 15 years and I provide counseling services to children, teens, and adults through my practice, Pursuit of Happiness Counseling and Wellness. In addition to providing counseling services, I am a Qualified Clinical Supervisor for mental health counselor interns, and I enjoy teaching on mental wellness topics in my community, at conferences, and for organizations.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to your needs, combining compassionate listening with practical strategies to help you navigate challenges and move toward meaningful goals.
First session
During our first session, I will go over paperwork, assessments, and policies. We'll go over any questions you have. Then we'll go over your concerns and create a treatment plan together on how we'll reach your goals in therapy.
Strengths
One of my strengths as a counselor is building trusting relationships and creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. I help you explore your experiences, recognize your strengths, and identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your needs, combining compassionate listening with practical strategies to help you navigate challenges and move toward meaningful goals.
Ideal clients
I enjoy helping people get unstuck from a cycle of worry, self-doubt, frustration, and overwhelm. My clients typically know they could live with more ease in their relationships, parenting, career, and/or health if they had the support to help identify their roadblocks and triggers. They are open to trusting the therapeutic process and trying new helpful ways to cope and manage their symptoms.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT with my clients to identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns, explore feelings, and behaviors.
Psychoeducation
I like to teach clients about their diagnosis and any concepts or skills introduced to them. This is where I find that my clients start to have their "aha" moments to know there's an explanation for their experiences. And helping them achieve mastery of skills to better manage their symptoms.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
With Solution Focused Brief Therapy, I help clients recognize their strengths and build on them to help make positive behavioral changes. I help them identify the steps to reach the solutions that best work for them.
