Life is going to life. Sometimes we handle it well, and other times we find ourselves overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and figure out what you actually need. I’m Yanique, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida. I help adolescents and adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck reconnect with themselves and find peace in the middle of life’s chaos. Whether you’re navigating stress at work, relationship struggles, or the weight of depression, anxiety, or ADHD, therapy with me is about helping you feel seen, supported, and empowered to create lasting change. With over 6 years of experience and a Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University, I’ve worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds from children to older adults dealing with mood disorders, addiction, and major life transitions. My approach is individualized, collaborative, and informed by your lived experience. Together, we’ll explore what’s holding you back, build coping tools that actually fit your lifestyle, and help you rediscover a sense of balance and confidence in yourself. Let’s take the next step therapy doesn’t have to feel heavy.
In our first session, we’ll start by getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about what’s been going on, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. You don’t need to come in with everything figured out or know exactly what you want to talk about. We can take our time, figure out what’s most important to you, and decide together what you’d like to focus on moving forward. The goal is for you to leave your first session feeling like you have a better understanding of where to start.
One of my strengths as a therapist is making you feel heard and understood while also helping you move forward. I’m supportive, but I’m also willing to challenge you when it can help you grow, see things differently, or recognize what you’re capable of. I’m especially passionate about helping you work through anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and patterns of generational dysfunction. We’ll identify what’s getting in the way, set realistic goals, and work toward changes that make sense for your life. With children and adolescents, I focus on creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself and express what you’re feeling. Sometimes that means talking things out, and sometimes it means finding other ways to communicate such as virtal sand tray. Overall, I want you to feel supported while also leaving therapy with a better understanding of yourself, your patterns, and what you can do differently.
I’m best positioned to serve individuals who are motivated to improve but may not yet have the tools or strategies to make meaningful change. My clients often feel stuck, overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious about the direction of their lives. They come from all walks of life and are ready to explore new perspectives and develop skills to overcome obstacles, find balance, and move forward with confidence. I’m here to guide them in building resilience and achieving their goals.

Overall, my experience with CBT has allowed me to provide a diverse range of clients with the tools they need to understand and manage their mental health. I am committed to offering a compassionate, individualized approach that supports each person in creating meaningful change in their lives, no matter their age or background.
I have integrated Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice, particularly when working with individuals who struggle with emotional regulation, self-harm, or suicidal ideation. DBT's focus on mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness has proven to be a powerful tool for clients who face intense emotional reactions or have difficulty managing relationships. I have used DBT skills training both individually and in group settings to help clients develop healthier coping strategies, build emotional resilience, and improve their interpersonal effectiveness. With clients who have persistent mental health issues, I have honed my skills in creating a safe and structured environment where they can begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
I integrate Narrative Therapy into my practice, particularly when working with clients who are dealing with issues of identity, trauma, and life transitions. Narrative Therapy emphasizes the importance of the stories we tell about ourselves and how those stories shape our experiences. By helping clients explore and reframe their personal narratives, I assist them in recognizing the ways they may have internalized negative beliefs or been defined by their challenges. This therapeutic approach empowers clients to see themselves as the authors of their own stories, which can help them rewrite limiting narratives and foster a greater sense of agency and possibility. With clients who have persistent mental health issues and mood disorders, I have honed my skills in creating a safe and structured environment where they can begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), particularly for clients who are looking for practical, short-term solutions to their challenges. SFBT focuses on identifying and amplifying a client’s strengths, resources, and past successes. It is especially effective when clients are dealing with specific, immediate concerns or when they are looking for strategies to make quick, positive changes. By focusing on solutions rather than problems, clients are able to gain a sense of empowerment and hope, making it an ideal approach for those who may feel overwhelmed by the long-term nature of therapy or who need to build momentum in their progress. With clients who have persistent mental health issues and mood disorders, I have honed my skills in creating a safe and structured environment where they can begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
I utilize and integrate Positive Psychology into my practice to focus on clients’ strengths, well-being, and personal growth. Positive Psychology is grounded in the idea that, in addition to addressing problems and challenges, therapy should also actively nurture positive emotions, strengths, and life satisfaction. By helping clients identify and build on their strengths, cultivate gratitude, and foster a sense of purpose and meaning, Positive Psychology allows clients to not only cope with difficulties but also to thrive and experience greater joy, fulfillment, and resilience in their lives. With clients who have persistent mental health issues and mood disorders, I have honed my skills in creating a safe and structured environment where they can begin to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
