PMHNP15 years of experience

I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Originally from Tehran, Iran, I grew up in a culturally vibrant environment before moving to the United States after high school. I speak Farsi and English fluently. My early experiences attending an international school and learning English helped me connect with students from various cultures and backgrounds, broadening my understanding of diversity and significantly influencing my professional development. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles. Additionally, I earned a Master of Science in Integrative Functional Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and a Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, from Walden University.

First session

During our first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and define your goals. After that, I will integrate various therapeutic approaches tailored to your needs. With CBT, we will examine your thoughts; with existential therapy, we will explore your desires; and with psychodynamic therapy, we will uncover past traumas and their impact. Therapy aims to shift perception, build healthier coping mechanisms, enhance communication skills, and process difficult emotions.

Strengths

I offer my full presence and hold space for clients to be as they are. I work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, career challenges, mood swings, addictions, PTSD from past traumas, and difficulty coping with stress. In sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan to support your mental health and help you achieve your goals. My clients typically see gradual positive changes in their mood, energy, and thoughts within the first month, followed by a maintenance program to sustain progress.

I enjoy working with a variety of clients with different backgrounds from ages 18 and up. I provide compassionate, holistic mental health care, integrating Eastern and Western modalities to support you. Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and I honor the trust it takes to begin this process. I offer empathetic psychotherapy in a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions, and traumas at your own pace. In addition, I offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assessments & medication management. With my background as a nutritionist and nurse practitioner, I specialize in holistic health. I integrate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, coaching, psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, and counseling to support your journey of growth, healing, and transformation.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, I will help you recognize how automatic negative thoughts contribute to mental health challenges. Through thought reframing and neutralization, I will guide you to explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to transmute negative automatic thoughts. The goal of CBT is to replace unhelpful thought patterns with healthier ones, fostering positive behavioral changes and improving overall well-being.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

With ACT, I will guide you to Increase your psychological flexibility. This means being able to accept difficult thoughts and emotions while still engaging in behaviors that are true to your values. This therapy helps you to learn to be more present and self aware of thoughts and feelings while creating non resistance towards negative emotions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

With Mindfulness therapy I will guide you to focus on cultivating present-moment awareness and accepting thoughts and feelings without judgment. We will explore how to observe thoughts and emotions without labeling them as bad or good and creating space between your thoughts and emotions. This therapy helps to reduce self-identification with thoughts and emotions with the goal of inner peace while paying attention to the current moment rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

Existential

With Existential Therapy, I will guide you toward self-actualization, personal growth, and fulfillment. This approach considers the whole person—thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and social context. Together, we will explore ways to enhance self-awareness, build resilience, and develop healthier coping skills while fostering a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Psychodynamic

With psychodynamic therapy, I will guide you to explore past traumas, unconscious processes, and past experiences to understand how they influence current behaviors and relationships, aiming to foster self-awareness. This therapy is important when dealing with PTSD and chronic anxiety and depression. We will explore how to better understand your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving and to make more conscious and informed choices.
