Hello! I am Donna and I am glad you are here! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. I achieved my Master of Human Services from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania while also parenting my youngest children who were still at home. I have experience working with many different age groups and populations, from pre-teen to 80. I have experience with addictions, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and personality disorders. I have worked with individuals and couples. My primary focus is adjustment disorders, anxiety and forensic referrals for those 18 and older. I am also willing to work from a Biblical perspective.
In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, then, if you are ready, discuss your specific challenges that you are facing. This will help us create a plan for us to work through, tailored to your specific needs, in future sessions. I will also be asking many questions to help me understand you better.
I believe a significant factor in my successful caseload has been my person-centered, non-judgmental approach to relationship building in the therapeutic alliance. This has allowed me to connect with the criminal justice population as they are mandated to treatment and rarely want to be there! Having multiple years working in community mental health and addictions, I have been exposed to many different types of concerns from people. I don't believe there is any presenting problem that I haven't seen or heard.
Having worked with an eclectic population over the years, I have found that it is best to be flexible in my approach. I have knowledge of many treatment approaches from over the years of experience and stay aware of the needs of those I am working with. My longest and strongest approach is CBT and REBT. I have also been leaning on Somatic approaches to healing.
