New to Grow
My name is Gerson Lovera. I am licensed clinician with 9 years of experience working side by side with clients. I have a background in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. I work with individuals and couples experiencing interpersonal issues, life transitions, anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD and trauma. My years of experience has helped clients from different backgrounds heal, grow, feel empowered, and gain practical skills to make significant changes in their lives. I utilize a person centered approach that often include imagery and analytical interventions to help clients navigate emotional attachments.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session we will explore what brought you to therapy. However, I like to use a person centered approach and assess based on the learning styles of my clients and preferences. Based on this, we might take a more illustrative approach or analytical approach in order to assess your strengths, core values, beliefs, feelings, goals, and begin building a plan to overcome your patterns. Or, sometimes we might take the exploration route, for those who are more stuck and need more support. Regardless, I believe clients always know themselves better than I know them.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my curiosity. I am clinician who likes to explore and be a scientist. Scientist never say: "What's wrong with me?" They say: "Oo..I wonder what would happen if we..." We don't have to be "fake positive". I like to be gentle, but also not beat around the bush. I welcome when clients realize that my sessions are the place where they can practice and challenge themselves with the safety they have been longing for.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with clients who are trying to make sense of life, while struggling to cope with stress and feel disconnected from themselves. Perhaps, you're highly driven but need direction. Or maybe you and your partner are looking to explore ways to communicate or heal your relationship. In any case, I'm glad you found me! I like to offer a space for people to learn about who they are and who they can become.
