I’m Patience Amune, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping adults-especially women-navigate ADHD, anxiety, burnout, depression, and mood-related challenges. I provide evidence-based psychiatric care that combines thoughtful medication management with compassionate, practical support to help you feel more focused, emotionally balanced, and empowered in your daily life. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or uncertain whether their struggles stem from ADHD, anxiety, chronic stress, or a combination of factors. You may find yourself constantly juggling responsibilities, battling self-doubt, feeling emotionally drained, or wondering why everyday tasks seem more difficult than they should. I understand how isolating it can feel when your concerns have been overlooked or misunderstood. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood while receiving clear guidance and effective treatment.

Now, I’m passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health conversations, especially in cultures where it’s overlooked.

My approach is collaborative, holistic, and individualized. I take the time to understand your symptoms, personal history, lifestyle, strengths, and goals so we can develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. Care may include medication management, psychoeducation, and practical strategies designed to improve focus, reduce anxiety, strengthen coping skills, and enhance overall well-being. I believe in realistic, sustainable progress rather than quick fixes. I provide convenient telehealth services throughout Florida and offer in-person appointments in Lake Mary. For those who desire it, I also offer faith-informed care as part of a whole-person approach to mental wellness. If you are looking for a provider who listens attentively, explains your options clearly, and partners with you every step of the way, I would be honored to support you on your journey toward greater clarity, resilience, and balance.

First session

Your first session is a comprehensive and collaborative evaluation designed to fully understand what you’re experiencing and how to best support you. Many clients come in feeling overwhelmed, unsure whether their symptoms are related to ADHD, anxiety, burnout, or mood changes - and this visit is where we begin to bring clarity. We will start by discussing your main concerns, including symptoms such as difficulty focusing, persistent worry, mental fatigue, mood changes, sleep issues, or feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities. I will ask detailed questions about your current symptoms, how long they’ve been present, and how they are affecting your work, relationships, and overall functioning. We will also review your mental health history, medical history, past treatments, medications, and any prior diagnoses. If ADHD is a concern, we will explore attention, concentration, and executive functioning patterns in more depth. This thorough assessment helps ensure that your diagnosis is accurate and that your treatment plan is appropriate for your needs. Throughout the session, my approach is warm, structured, and non-judgmental. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, share your experiences openly, and feel heard. I will also provide education along the way so you better understand what may be contributing to your symptoms. By the end of the session, you can expect to leave with: A clearer understanding of your symptoms and possible diagnoses Initial clinical impressions A personalized treatment plan tailored to your goals Discussion of treatment options, which may include medication, supportive strategies, or both If medication is appropriate, we will review options carefully, including benefits, potential side effects, and what to expect moving forward. My goal is to ensure you feel informed and comfortable with every step of your care. We will also discuss next steps, including follow-up appointments, symptom monitoring, and how we will track your progress over time. Treatment is a collaborative process, and we will continue to adjust your plan based on how you are doing. My goal during this first session is to provide clarity, structure, and a clear path forward-so you leave feeling supported, understood, and confident about your next steps.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to bring clarity to complex symptoms. Many of the adults I work with-especially women-come in feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or unsure whether they are dealing with ADHD, anxiety, burnout, or a combination of these. I take a thoughtful and structured approach to assessment, helping identify patterns that may have been overlooked and providing clear, evidence-based guidance so you better understand what is going on and how to move forward. I also focus on practical, results-oriented care. My approach combines medication management with supportive strategies that are realistic and applicable to your daily life. Rather than offering abstract advice, I help you develop clear, manageable steps to improve focus, reduce anxiety, stabilize mood, and regain a sense of control. Treatment is always individualized, with careful attention to your goals, lifestyle, and preferences. Another key strength is my collaborative and patient-centered style. I prioritize creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and involved in your care. I take time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and medication choices in a clear and straightforward way, so you can make informed decisions with confidence. My goal is not just symptom reduction, but helping you feel more stable, capable, and supported over time. I am also attentive to the unique ways ADHD and anxiety present in adult women, including chronic overwhelm, difficulty with focus, emotional fatigue, and the pressure of balancing multiple roles and responsibilities. This allows me to tailor treatment in a way that truly fits your experience rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Consistency and follow-through are central to my care. We regularly review your progress, adjust treatment as needed, and ensure that your plan continues to work for you. For those who desire it, I also offer faith-informed care as an additional layer of support within a holistic approach to mental health. Overall, my focus is to provide clear direction, effective treatment, and a supportive partnership so you can move from feeling overwhelmed and uncertain to more focused, balanced, and in control of your life.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is an adult, often a woman, who is struggling with ADHD, anxiety, burnout, depression, or ongoing mental overwhelm and is ready for clarity, structure, and effective treatment. Many of my clients are balancing multiple responsibilities-work, family, relationships-and feel mentally exhausted trying to keep up. They may have difficulty with focus, organization, emotional regulation, or persistent worry, and are seeking answers that make sense for their experience. Some clients come to me wondering if they may have undiagnosed ADHD after years of feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or inconsistent despite their efforts. Others have been treated for anxiety or depression but still feel something is missing. Many are motivated to understand what is truly going on and want a provider who will take their concerns seriously, provide clear explanations, and offer a practical path forward. My ideal client values a collaborative approach and is open to exploring medication management alongside supportive strategies to improve daily functioning and overall well-being. They are looking for realistic, sustainable progress-not quick fixes-and want a treatment plan that fits into their real life. I am especially well-suited for clients who appreciate clear communication, structured care, and a provider who is both supportive and direct. For those who desire it, I also offer faith-informed care as part of a holistic approach to mental health. If you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to focus, or unsure where to start, and you are ready for clarity and effective treatment, you would likely be a strong fit for my practice.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidence-based modality that helps individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. We will work together to reframe those thoughts, practice exposure-based strategies, and build coping skills through behavioral activation and relaxation techniques.

Motivational Interviewing

I regularly use Motivational Interviewing (MI) in my practice to support clients who are ambivalent about change, particularly around medication adherence, substance use, or behavioral goals. MI helps me build a collaborative, nonjudgmental relationship with clients by exploring their own motivations, values, and readiness for change. I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations to help clients resolve ambivalence and strengthen their commitment to change. This approach is especially effective with adolescents who may feel resistant or pressured, as it empowers them to take ownership of their decisions in a supportive environment.
