I am a Brooklyn-born Haitian, and have been inspired and encouraged by many people in my life to pursue a major in Social Work.I attended Yeshiva University in NYC and received my Master of Social Work degree in 2009. I am licensed in Maryland and DC, and am a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. I’ve worked at John Hopkins Bayview Medical Center as a psychotherapist and provided individual therapy to transitional youths, families, adults, and those with special needs. Being a recent liver transplant survivor, I understand and appreciate how much therapy can help by providing mental and emotional support during difficult and stressful times. Family and community are everything to me. I am married with two children and have an amazing, supportive local community and extended family. I can’t wait to build a supportive, caring and effective therapeutic relationship with you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through CBT interventions we will explore automatic thoughts, underlying beliefs, and begin to reprogram thinking to create healthier perspectives and thinking patterns.

Couples Counseling

Through couples counseling, we will identify and develop effective ways to resolve communication differences, conflict, and sexual issues affecting the relationship.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a key part of learning to understand how one's brain works and how one's body reacts to stress, anxiety, sadness, grief, and other feelings. Psychoeducation also includes lessons that will help a client self-regulate and be successful after therapy on their own.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Often, clients come into therapy with a triggering event and active distress. Solution-focused brief treatment may be used initially to help with symptom reduction and improved mood. Once active distress is lessened, then other approaches can be used to identify and heal the underlying or triggering concerns of a client.

Strength-Based

Let's identify your strengths, work through the negative thoughts, and build on what you already know about yourself. I will offer a safe, confidential perspective/lens as you talk through your "now and then" with an aim towards developing your next steps forward.

My husband and I do couple’s therapy with Ms. Benoit, and I feel she understands us both very well. She has navigated difficult conversations ensuring both of our opinions are heard and respected. We began couples therapy before getting married to improve communication skills so when issues arise, we are equipped to handle them, and Ms. Benoit has greatly helped us improve.
