I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is dedicated to improving the lives of others. I have been practicing for 24 years and greatly enjoy the work that I do. After graduating from New York University in 2000, I embarked on a career in the field of mental health and social services holding positions such as Therapist, Program Manager, Director, and Administrative Director. I have done both clinical and administrative work but always loved clinical work the best. I believe in honoring client choice and self-determination while offering sound mental health treatment. I use a more directive, active approach to sessions to help clients meet their own goals for self-improvement.
The first session allows for an introduction to psychotherapy, orientation to the treatment process, and an opportunity for us to get to know one another.
I am a highly flexible therapist who can adjust my approach at any given moment to meet the needs of a diverse group of clients. I offer a warm and accepting environment in which clients can explore any topics that are relevant.
I enjoy working with adults on an individual basis. I am open to working with older adolescents (15 and above) on a case-by-case basis.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, and other techniques that are tailored to each client's needs.
I use traditional and modified CBT techniques to work through issues such as depression, anxiey, and relationship issues.
I use the therapeutic relationship as a means of developing self-awareness and personal growth.
I use a Trauma-Informed approach that looks at "what happened to you", not "what is wrong with you".
