I am licensed and have 20+ years of professional experience. I am married (1 x divorced) with one adult child. I enjoy traveling (near and far), reading and walking my granddog. I consider myself to be open, supportive and non-judgemental. Optimism is my strength! I have experience in working with clients, who are faced with trauma/abuse, grief/loss, stress/anxiety, life transition/adjustment and self-esteem/ motivation/confidence. I will work with you in a respectful and empathetic way, to develop a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. Taking steps towards a healthier you, is a big step that takes courage and commitment. I am here to assist/support you on your journey.
For our first meeting, I would provide you with information about my education, professional experience and communication style. This introduction is important because it gives you an opportunity to learn about the person with whom you share the details of your life/situation. After this introduction, we will spend time discussing your reasons for seeking therapy in a non-pressured way in a safe space. It is important for me know your history and experiences related to your mental health. Knowing this information will assist me in ensuring the development of a plan that meets your clinical needs. At this session, we will also discuss the therapeutic process, expectations and information about future sessions.
I believe my greatest strength as a provider is my commitment to assisting others, who desire to work towards healthier versions of themselves. I enjoy the helping profession. I consider myself to be a great listener, who is empathetic and compassionate. I will always work to maintain and increase my knowledge base through reading and research.
I can best serve clients who willing to work towards understanding how their thoughts and feelings influence their behaviors/functioning. I want to serve clients, who are willing to approach therapy with an open mind and a desire to work towards being the bees versions of themselves through understanding and healing. I want to work as an equal partner with clients to reach their goals.
I utilize CBT to assist patients with understanding how their thoughts and feelings influence their behaviors.
I utilize DBT to assist patients with working to identify stressors and development effective coping strategies that they can use long-term.
I believe encompassing one’s identity in their therapeutic process ensures developing an approach that specific to your needs.
