Oluchi Iwuoha
I provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy for adults experiencing ADHD symptoms, anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma-related symptoms, insomnia, and challenging life transitions. We look beyond difficulty concentrating and consider your history, symptoms, daily functioning, and other factors that may be affecting attention and executive functioning. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. Maybe your mind won't slow down, you're having trouble sleeping, your mood has changed, or you're finding it harder to manage responsibilities that once felt easier. Perhaps you have difficulty staying focused, constantly procrastinate, forget appointments or responsibilities, start projects but struggle to finish them, and become overwhelmed and wonder why tasks that seem simple for others require so much effort for you.
Mental Health Care That Listens First, Treats Thoughtfully, and Supports the Whole You
My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and involved in your care. Together, we'll take time to understand your experiences, how your symptoms affect your work, relationships, home life, and overall well-being, and what you want to improve. Treatment is individualized rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. When medication is appropriate, we'll discuss available options, expected benefits, possible side effects, and any concerns you may have to enable you to make informed decisions about your care. We can start with where you are today and work toward identifying your needs and developing a treatment plan that fits your life, helping you feel more focused, emotionally balanced, confident, and able to enjoy your life again.
First session
Your first session is a chance for you to feel heard,. You don't need to have everything figured out, know exactly what to say, or come in with a diagnosis. We'll start wherever you are. We'll talk about what brought you in, the symptoms or challenges you're experiencing, how they're affecting your daily life, and what you would like to change. We'll also review relevant medical and mental health history, current or previous medications, therapies, trials, symptoms, and other factors that may be contributing to how you feel. By the end of our first session, my goal is for you to have a better understanding of what may be contributing to your symptoms and a clear plan for moving forward. When appropriate, we'll discuss treatment options, including medication and supportive strategies, and make decisions together based on your needs, preferences, and goals. I want you to leave your first appointment feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about your next steps.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is taking the time to truly listen. I want you to feel comfortable sharing what you're experiencing without worrying about being judged, dismissed, or rushed. You don't need to have the perfect words to describe what you're going through—we can work through it together. I also look beyond a diagnosis. Difficulty concentrating, poor sleep, anxiety, low motivation, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed can have many possible causes. My approach is to understand your symptoms, experiences, daily challenges, relationships, and goals before developing a treatment plan with you. I believe in working collaboratively. I explain treatment options in clear, everyday language and encourage you to ask questions and participate in decisions about your care. Whether we're addressing ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma, or sleep difficulties, I want you to understand your options and the “why” behind your treatment. Above all, I bring compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to understand you as a person—not simply a diagnosis. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, supported, and clear about your next steps.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is tired of feeling overwhelmed, distracted, anxious, emotionally drained, or simply not like themselves. You may be struggling to focus at work, procrastinating until the last minute, losing sleep because your mind won't shut off, or finding it harder to enjoy things you once loved. You may be wondering whether ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, mood changes, or another concern could explain what you've been experiencing. Your goals might be to feel calmer, improve your focus and motivation, sleep better, manage your emotions, strengthen your relationships, become more productive, or simply feel like yourself again. If you're ready to better understand what you're experiencing and take meaningful steps toward feeling better, I'd be honored to work alongside you.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help you recognize unhelpful thought patterns, challenge thoughts that may be increasing anxiety, depression, self-doubt, or overwhelm, and develop healthier ways of responding to difficult situations. For example, if you often think, “I'm going to fail,” “I can't handle this,” or “I'll never get everything done,” we'll slow down and examine those thoughts together. We'll work on replacing all-or-nothing thinking and self-criticism with more balanced, realistic perspectives and practical actions. I may also incorporate CBT strategies to help with anxiety, depression, ADHD-related challenges, stress, sleep difficulties, emotional regulation, and coping with life transitions.
Motivational Interviewing
Instead of telling you what you “should” do, I create a supportive, judgment-free space to explore what's important to you, what's getting in the way, and what changes feel realistic for your life. I'll ask thoughtful questions, listen to your concerns, and help you identify your reasons and motivation for making changes. I may use this approach when we're working on medication adherence, developing healthier routines, improving sleep, managing ADHD symptoms, reducing substance use, building coping skills, or making lifestyle changes that support your mental health. The goal is for you to feel empowered rather than pressured.
Supportive
Sometimes you don't need someone to immediately tell you how to fix everything—you need a safe place to talk, feel heard, and sort through what you're carrying without judgment. During our sessions, I create a warm and respectful space where you can openly discuss your emotions, challenges, relationships, stressors, and concerns. I'll listen carefully, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, recognize your strengths, and identify healthy ways to cope with difficult situations. I may use supportive therapy when you're navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD-related challenges, mood changes, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, trauma-related concerns, or major life transitions. It can also be helpful when you're adjusting to a new diagnosis or treatment plan. We'll also recognize what's working, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies that help you feel more confident and supported between appointments. My goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling understood, encouraged, and better equipped to manage life's challenges—knowing you don't have to figure everything out on your own.
