Hi! My name is Johanna Moreno and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California. My personal and professional background has allowed me to experience working with a vast array of clients and has allowed me to recognize the importance of flexibility and adaptability as a therapist. Working in community mental health for several years has taught me to be patient, and understanding of each client’s needs, along with being understanding of their diverse backgrounds. I am passionate about helping my clients resolve their personal and relationship issues and I firmly believe in the power of therapy helping people improve their lives. If you’ve been struggling with stress, or if you are experiencing difficulties at home, in relationships, or at your job, I can help. *Please note that any requests for additional administrative services like disability certification, fitness to return to work or other activities and special accommodations related to a psychological condition will have to be provided by another mental health provider. The reason for this policy is to avoid having the performance of administrative functions interfere with your therapy.
In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I believe in the power of authenticity in the therapeutic process. As a mental health therapist, I've found that my strength lies in being true to myself and my clients. I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I don't shy away from addressing difficult topics. I am genuine, transparent, and believe in fostering a space where clients can experience openness, and honesty. My commitment to being myself, while maintaining a compassionate and respectful demeanor, allows for meaningful connections to develop. I find that this honesty not only builds trust but also encourages clients to engage more openly in the therapeutic process fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, supported, and where clients feel they can be authentic as well.
I am best positioned to serve adult clients who are experiencing anxiety and trauma and may feel like they are lacking certain coping skills or strategies to manage their emotions and life challenges. My clients are often in a place of emotional distress, but they possess a strong desire for change and are motivated to put in the work necessary for their personal growth. They may struggle with feelings of overwhelm, unprocessed past experiences, or difficulty in navigating day-to-day situations due to their emotional responses.
Although I am nationally certified as a CBT therapist, I tend to lean more towards an Integrative method of treatment. By merging elements of different theories, I can often offer a more flexible and inclusive approach to treatment depending on your individual needs and goals.
