New to Grow
Hello! Welcome! My name is Sarah. I look forward to partnering with you to address your challenges. I want you to feel welcome, supported, encouraged, safe, seen, heard, and valued when you meet with me. Life can be difficult and I want to help make it a little easier for you. I am moving from the school-based therapy world to online telehealth with all populations. I want to genuinely connect with you.
In the first session we will be getting to know one another, exploring your concerns and reasons for reaching out, and what goals you have. It's okay if you have no clue about your goals. I am here to help you figure it out. Let's talk!
I have the ability to connect and truly see everyone for who they are. I see the good in people. I value each human's perspective and experiences. I am authentic. I use humor often. I will hold space for your deep pain. I can also challenge you when some gentle confrontation is needed. I typically am a bit no-nonsense, direct and honest. At the same time, I understand each client may need something different from me, and I am willing and able to adapt my style and approach as appropriate to meet your needs.
My ideal client is anyone looking to make positive changes, build insight, and grow. I want to partner with you. I have recently spent the last several years providing mental health services in the special education system and clinical consultation/supervision in the mobile crisis world. I have significant experience with middle schoolers and teens, many of whom were resistant to therapy. I am here to meet you where you are at in your journey and see what good we can do in your life together.
Other specialties
I identify as
Trauma Informed Care
I believe what happens to us shapes how we show up in relationships and the world . Care will be taken to understand your history and how it impacts how you show up. Trauma isn't a bad word or a word to hide from. It's a common experience. My goals are for you to feel therapy is a safe space, to know healing occurs at your own pace, and we will collaborate on what works for you to build resilience and get you feeling more empowered.
Supportive
I am honored to walk alongside you in your healing journey. You are the expert on yourself. I am here to collaborate with you. I will help you navigate your current life stressors, stabilize your emotions, and build coping skills.
EMDR
I have recent basic training in EMDR overall, approved by EMDRIA, and extra training hours focused on EMDR with school age children and teens. I am looking forward to building my skills in this highly effective, evidenced-based approach to provide healing.
Eclectic
Not every client needs the same type of treatment. I can pivot and provide therapy from different frameworks if we decide what we're doing isn't working.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Each of us has a unique, personal, cultural identity all our own with intersectionalities (mutliple, overlapping identities) —such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, neurodivergence, disability, and more. I work to understand your identities, who you truly are, and honor your specific background, belief systems, and life experiences. We will work together to identify any barriers and difficulties for you related to your identity/culture and address them appropriately. Therapy is a safe space to process thoughts and feelings about our identities and the impacts of discrimination, racism, minority stress, and the valuable benefits to support, understanding, and acceptance.
