(she/her)
Hi! I'm a TX based clinical social worker with 9 years of experience working with youth (14-17), young adults (18-24), and their families. I adopt a "meet you where you are" approach to therapy. I believe therapy should be collaborative and client-led. I help young people struggling with their emotions, particularly anger, sadness, and feelings of anxiety. I also work with families to improve communication and connection. Parents learn to engage with and adapt to the ever-changing needs of their children. Young people learn to recognize different perspectives and grow in their empathy for others.
In our first session, I usually meet with the parent(s) first to get an initial understanding of need. From there, it's time to meet with the young person for introductions into who I am and my style of therapy and to learn about who they are and their ideas on challenges. This will help to tailor goals for therapy in future sessions. For initial family sessions, I will meet individually with each member for quick introductions and to gather a personal goal as well as a family goal for therapy. We will then convene all together to introduce family therapy ground rules and decide on an initial family goal.
If you're looking for a therapist who is fun yet firm, silly with a simple approach that will challenge you and hold you accountable to the goals you set, let's work together!
I love to work with young people who are struggling with sadness, anxiety, and life transitions. They may often struggle to express emotions or cope with difficult emotions resulting in outbursts and sometimes aggression. Young people may withdraw, express thoughts of death or dying, and feel unmotivated. Young adults may question their direction in life, struggle with self-concept and overall uncertainty. Families sometimes struggle to mend relationships and build--or rebuild--connections. There may be frequent arguments without a sense of resolve or lack of interaction. There may exist disrespect and lack of compromise between child and parent. Families posed to work with me are willing to take accountability for hurt they may have caused and improve family harmony through intentional changes.

Child Parent Psychotherapy
I operate from the viewpoint that family members play a significant part in recovery for young people. Parents, understand, when signing up for therapy with me, you will also play a part in your child's treatment. This might mean just keeping lines of communication open between us or more in depth work, all centered around helping your child through their journey of recovery.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT concepts during therapy to challenge harmful and restrictive thinking. On occasion, you may be given reflective homework focused on awareness of thoughts and ways to challenge those thoughts.
Trauma-Focused CBT
When traumatic experiences cause lasting impact in our lives, it may be time to seek trauma-focused therapy. Together, we can safely explore past traumatic experiences and their impact on you today.
Family Therapy
Families and support systems are so important for young people, and often all that is needed is some outside perspective to encourage understanding. This is my approach to family therapy, increasing understanding through giving family members the opportunity to be heard and a neutral accountability partner.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
It is my firm belief that often young people just need to be heard without judgment. I will always encourage new perspectives and more helpful ways of thinking, and I allow them to make conclusions on their own and challenge the issues they recognize as areas of growth.
