I am a Psychotherapist licensed in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. I have been a licensed therapist since 2013. I work with adults challenged by stressors in the present or struggling with old wounds from the past. As a therapist, my focus is to help clients build self awareness, identify their own internal strengths and external resources, and develop new tools and coping skills to face challenges.
Rather than using a structured intake form, I take the time to hear the client's story. I ask questions to identify the primary sources of suffering. Then, together, we choose goals for the therapy process.
As a therapist, I work best by fostering self awareness and self compassion in my clients. I am an enthusiastic motivator. I encourage clients to identify and magnify their own strengths and build new skills to face their challenges. Offering compassion to those suffering from old wounds and help them heal and move on and engage in their lives in the here and now.
I am best equipped to work with 18 and over individuals with mood challenges such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder. I have extensive background in treating complex trauma (CPTSD). I am best at motivating individuals as they go through particularly difficult transitions such as adulthood, divorce, grief among others. I have experience working with women using a feminist perspective, with men challenged by their gender roles and identities in an age of change, with people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals from a social justice perspective, as well as psycho-social development disrupted by discrimination.
I have been trained in trauma focused therapy (CCTP), mindfulness, CBT, psychodynamic and strength based practices, among others. I follow a integrative approach to therapy and adjust my treatment modality according to what best serves the client. Overall, I believe that fostering compassionate self-awareness can help anyone navigate through challenges.
