Utilize psychoeducation to educate the client about the basic principles of CBT, explaining how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Educating clients on how to use mindfulness exercises such as mindful breathing, body scans, and grounding techniques to help the client develop self-awareness and regulate their emotions. Teach the client distress tolerance skills to help them cope with crisis situations and overwhelming emotions without resorting to impulsive or destructive behaviors.
Continue to work with couples to reach goals they want to reach as a unit learning to work together rather than apart.
