What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere. Our initial session is focused on building rapport and establishing a strong foundation for our therapeutic relationship. I will take the time to learn about you—your background, experiences, and what has brought you to therapy. We will discuss your current concerns, goals, and any specific challenges you may be facing. I will also explain my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you may have, ensuring that you feel comfortable and informed about the process. This session is a collaborative space where you can share at your own pace, and I will work to create a safe environment where you feel seen, heard, and validated. By the end of our first meeting, we will outline initial steps and develop a personalized plan to help you move forward on your path to growth and healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My strength lies in resilience, having overcome significant obstacles while remaining dedicated to my mission of helping others. I understand the importance of meeting clients where they are, and I bring a broad skill set that extends beyond therapy to include creating mental health resources that cater to marginalized communities. I am committed to fostering a safe, empathetic environment where clients can explore their mental health, build coping skills, and work toward their personal goals. My ability to communicate effectively and authentically, combined with my creative and innovative approach to therapy, allows me to connect with clients in meaningful ways. I am here to support you as you navigate life’s challenges, offering guidance and tools to help you heal and grow.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My practice is deeply rooted in person-centered therapy, where I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment. I strive to understand each client’s perspective and foster a therapeutic space where they feel seen, heard, and valued. By building this foundation of trust, clients are encouraged to explore their thoughts and emotions openly, empowering them to find solutions that resonate with their authentic selves. This approach enhances self-awareness and nurtures personal growth, aligning with my belief in the intrinsic worth and capability of each individual.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I frequently utilize cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Through structured sessions, I guide clients in understanding the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. We work collaboratively to develop practical strategies for challenging cognitive distortions and implementing healthier, more adaptive behaviors. This method is particularly effective for clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and stress management. By incorporating CBT, clients gain skills that empower them to approach life’s challenges with resilience and a constructive mindset.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My practice is grounded in cultural competence and sensitivity, ensuring that I honor and respect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of my clients. I am committed to creating an inclusive environment where clients from all cultures, ethnicities, and identities feel understood and supported. By incorporating culturally sensitive practices, I address systemic and social factors impacting mental health, tailoring treatment plans to reflect the client’s cultural context and values. This approach strengthens therapeutic rapport and facilitates deeper connections, fostering a sense of belonging and trust.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I incorporate Internal Family Systems to help clients explore and understand their internal landscape. I guide clients in identifying and working with various “parts” of themselves—such as protective, wounded, or adaptive parts—to achieve internal harmony and healing. This approach allows clients to access their core “Self” as a compassionate and wise leader of their inner system. Through IFS, clients learn to navigate internal conflicts and trauma with self-compassion, promoting healing and personal integration.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a vital component of my practice, empowering clients with the knowledge they need to better understand their mental health and treatment options. I use psychoeducation to demystify diagnoses, explain therapeutic techniques, and provide insights into emotional and behavioral processes. This knowledge fosters client engagement, equipping them with tools and resources to actively participate in their own healing journey. By providing clear and accessible information, clients can make informed decisions and feel more confident in the therapeutic process.
