I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Connecticut, and Utah. I have a Bachelor of Science in Education and Dance Therapy from New York University. I have two master's degrees: one in marriage and family counseling from the University of Phoenix and a second master's in clinical psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology. I am enrolled in the PsyD doctoral program at California Southern University and am scheduled to graduate on 05/2024.
I have 20 years of experience as an educator, counselor, career counseling and researcher in psychology. As a licensed MFT therapist, my expertise is in the areas of substance abuse, prison populations, AB109s (felons)/290s (sex offenders), anger management, domestic violence, career counseling, and parenting supervision. In addition to individual, couples, and family counseling, I have experience with specific populations, such as transgender and LGBQ, with a particular cultural emphasis on identity formation.
I have worked closely with psychiatrists regarding members who require medication management and assessments, diagnosing and creating for those individuals, couples, and families treatment plans counseling services. My clientele ranges from 6 to 75 years of age, and my therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Narrative therapy, and Supportive therapy. My foundation and belief system is based on being culturally sensitive when working with all clients to understand how they see their presenting problem within the context of their culture.

Hi! My name is Kim Hughes and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Professional, I have more than two decades of experience helping clients with anger management, anxiety, substance abuse, depression, problem-solving, decision-making, vocation, parenting, opposition/conduct, and ADHD. Additionally, I have over 15 years of experience assessing and working with families involved in the dependency system. I also have extensive experience working with teens. I love mixing talk therapy with cognitive behavioral approaches and have found significant success with the person-centered approach, during which I afford every client a safe and empathetic space in which they can focus on self-evaluation & self-empowerment in order to develop healthy coping skills.
Beginning therapy is a huge step and can cause anxiety all by itself. So even if you're just thinking about talking with someone, you've already come a long way. I tend to be more informal and talk with clients just as I would talk with anyone else, because it's very important to me that you feel completely comfortable with this process. Through our sessions, I want you to feel empowered and in control of your life and your decisions. I cannot promise a quick fix but I will walk this journey with you and assist in any way possible!

Hey! I'm glad that you are looking to get therapy. Here are some things to know about me while making you decision on what works well for you. I come from a military life style allowing me to travel the world and see all kinds of cultures. Because of this I see value in everyone. I believe in getting results in therapy. I want to see people change as fast as they want to or are willing to. So I give things to practice in every session.
I believe in poly vagal theory and teach clients to release emotions from there nervous system not just cope with it. I often say I consider myself more of a trainer than therapist sometimes. I also help a lot with attachment struggles. I hope this gives you enough info about me to feel comfortable working with me. I am also very flexible with how I work with people.

Building self-awareness is often a hard place to start. I meet my patients where they are in their journey and support the process.
Sometimes taking the first step to explore psychotherapy is confusing. Ask questions so you can find a therapist who is the right fit for you.
My approach meets people where they are presently, to determine where they want to be in the future. I like to get to know my new patients to determine their needs in treatment.

Are you looking for your life to be different somehow, but you aren't sure exactly what that would look like, let alone how to make it happen? I can help you identify your most pressing issues, then help you identify solutions that you believe will work and support you while you start to implement changes. I believe you are the most likely person to be able to identify your best solutions, and perhaps all you need is encouragement and acceptance to get started.
I work from a background of existential theory (the idea that our human experiences are shared and we are all looking for meaning, purpose, satisfying relationships, and personal freedom), and I blend cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), motivational interviewing, radical acceptance, and humor (all techniques proven through research to be effective) into my therapy techniques. I aim to be easy to talk to, an excellent and attentive listener, and always supportive. I recommend helpful assignments in between therapy sessions to help you practice new skills and learn hidden aspects about yourself.
I help people who have been codependent on their partner to become empowered to love fully and be loved back. I can help you learn specific techniques to lessen the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances. I believe therapy is about helping you look at yourself honestly, building up the things you love about yourself, and helping you improve the things you wish were different.

People can make better decisions if they have enough information and understanding about how counseling works. Here are some aspects of counseling and therapy as I perceive and practice it: Therapeutic counseling requires your active involvement including efforts to change any self-defeating thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will be asked to work both in and out of the therapeutic counseling sessions. I may occasionally request that you do “homework” (ok-not a formal request because life happens and inevitably it will be that you have life duties to attend to but maybe jotting things down or making notes for yourself kind of homework) by way of providing you with further reinforcement to concepts discussed in session or simply to prompt further insight and self- exploration. There are no instant, painless, or passive cures, no “magic pills”. Instead, there will be ongoing personal and spiritual growth that can occur with your conscious effort. Most likely, you will need to work on improving stress management, cognitions (e.g. beliefs and thought processes), emotional health, relationships, and your general lifestyle if counseling is to be successful. Sometimes change will be relatively easy but more often change takes much effort, time, and persistence. My hope for you is that you grow into your best self in the present and that that allows you to be your best version for your future. Therapy is about YOU and your needs. I specialize in trauma, mood, and anxiety disorders and am an LGBTQ++ ally and kink-aware professional.

Confidential talk without judgement. Hi, I’m Shakea “Kea” Roper. I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). Do you need someone to talk to that will be understanding, compassionate, and encouraging? If so, you have reached the right therapist. I’m a single mother from the inner city. I’ve been through many struggles. From parenting, to family, to work, and just life. I’ve learned you can always work on yourself to help break cycles/patterns that once held you back. I value honesty and keeping it real. When there is free time, I like to sleep, spend time with family, board games, and of course diamond painting/other crafts.
I often work with clients to address anxiety, depression, racing undesirable thoughts, and handling day to day life. My counseling style is active, honest, and straight-forward. Many of my clients have said "Kea is a great listener who isn't afraid to challenge my thoughts." I take the time to care. For me, it's an honor to work together to make progress! One of my favorite quotes is “everything seems impossible until it's done” by Nelson Mandela because I know everyone can push past the uncomfortableness of change to accomplish their goals.
I have over 14 years of experience focusing on mood disorders and any symptoms that affect daily life. I can work with clients from the following states: Kansas, Missouri, Utah, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania. I spent my last college years at the University of Missouri – Columbia (MIZZOU) earning a master’s degree in social work (c/o/2009). In my sessions, I focus on using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (thinking processes), Strengths Based, Brief Therapy, Problem Solving, DBT (mindfulness), Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Solution Focused to help clients improve all areas of their life. I am a facilitator of Making Sense of Your Worth (MSoYW).
I have worked in various fields of social work such as: working with survivors of abuse, half-way houses, reunification of children with their families, youth homes, and psychiatric hospitals.

Hi, its nice to meet you. I have been a therapist for about a decade now. Before being a therapist I spent 20 years in Healthcare Administration with 17 of those in management. I share this because I understand the stress that comes with the "corp" world and management.
After 20 years, I decided to change careers and utilize my skills in coaching and mentoring. I received my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, where I also went on to get my Doctorate in Health Psychology. I am a health and wellness focused therapist, so I spend time talking about how to balance your life, your stress, and ensure you are having some fun in your life.
Therapeutically I'm very eclectic. I use different techniques based on your needs. That being said, yes, I use CBT, DBT, REBT, talk therapy, and assessments as most therapists do.
My primary focus is Anxiety (including Social), Anxiety due to a Medical Condition, Bariatric Pre-Surgical therapy/testing, ADHD in adults including testing and therapy, and Sports/Orthopedic Rehabilitation Counseling.

Hello! I am a Professional Counselor licensed in several states with over 18 years of experience empowering individuals to cope with difficulties and make peace with their bodies and circumstances. I have a variety of personal and professional experiences that contribute to the development of my empathy, understanding, and relatability including surviving cancer.
On-going battles with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, chronic pain, and prolonged illness like cancer and infertility can leave people feeling broken, hopeless, and helpless. Sometimes maladaptive coping behaviors like emotional eating, perfectionism, people pleasing, low motivation, negative self-talk, anger outbursts, poor relationships, and others are consequences of these struggles. I will use Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Insight-Oriented, and Intuitive Eating therapies to help you live your best life.
Starting counseling can be very “nerve-racking.” I will try to make it as comfortable as possible. My counseling style is warm, patient, and client-centered. I encourage my clients to develop their own goals and areas of focus, but I am always there to help guide them. Also, I am very logical and insight-oriented. My clients often comment that I have helped them develop new understandings and perspectives. Finally, I work hard to be culturally competent. I have lived and traveled all over the world; therefore I am very open to understanding and accepting others. If you are ready to begin a journey of healing and empowerment, I am here to help you!! I look forward to hearing from you soon!!
