My name is Kim and I’m a LCSW with over 10 years of experience. I’m passionate about helping people build skills to live more fulfilled, happy lives.
In our first session we will focus on getting to know each other and identify what success looks like to you. We will explore what steps you have already taken to address your struggles and develop a plan to move you closer to your goals.
My experience, paired with ongoing training, has helped me develop strong clinical skills that empower people to achieve their goals and reach a new potential.
In our time together we will explore what a meaningful and fulfilled life looks like for you. We will then look at how your thoughts and feelings bring you towards or away from this. We will practice strategies to help you unhook from difficult thoughts and feelings by regulating the discomfort you feel and then creating space between your thoughts and actions.
I have completed intensive training in DBT. These skills help individuals get off the roller-coaster of emotions, reclaim control over their lives, and navigate difficult social situations.
I incorporate mindfulness skills to help you learn understand how your body responds to different emotional states and to help calm distress. We will also explore on focusing your mind on what is happening currently, rather than worrying about what could go wrong in the future or what has happened in the past.
Through motivational interviewing we will explore your goals while building on your personal motivation and strengths.
I am certified in Trauma-Focused CBT, an approach that centers on building skills to help an individual learn the skills to calm their body, explore unhelpful thinking patterns, and process trauma.
