Hi, my name is Daniel and I am a licensed therapist. I see my role as a guide, helping people navigating life and in the search for meaning. I've been practicing for around 10 years working with a variety of different people and challenges treating anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma/abuse, life transitions, finding meaning, loss, and more. I offer a safe and respectful place to explore the feelings and situations you're going through while encouraging effective life changes. Thank you for considering working with me!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I have a few goals. We usually have a lot to talk about and it goes pretty fast. I share a little bit about counseling and privacy. I want to hear about you, what you need, and what you are going through. Finally, getting some help is a pretty big reason for coming to therapy and an important part of what I hope to start in our first session. This help might be some things for consideration; or something more practical like an exercise or skill to deal with challenging feelings.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are flexibility and providing a space of non-judgment. I have worked with people in a lot of different situations facing many different challeges. This has led me to find different ways to help people. If we are working together and something isn't going the direction you want, we can make a change. I also provide a safe place to explore difficult feelings and situations without judgment. I believe we all deserve the respect to choose our direction and what's important to us.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I find a lot of meaning working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, chronic pain/disease, finding meaning in life, and exploring who they are. I work well with clients who are looking at making a change but feeling unsure how to. My style is more directive than some. I ask questions, give feedback, offer strategies, and find solutions in addition to listening. My client say this is one of the qualities they have appreciated about our work.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based approach that helps clients accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment while committing to taking action towards meaningful goals. I utilize ACT to guide clients in identifying their core values, figure out what’s really important, and aligning their actions with these values. We explore the ways in which unhelpful thoughts and painful emotions can interfere with their goals and learn to observe these thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. ACT also emphasizes the importance of being present in the moment and engaging in activities that bring meaning and joy. By cultivating acceptance and commitment, clients can develop greater psychological flexibility and resilience, leading to improved overall well-being. I think side stepping some of the judgments we have about life and the way things should be helps us to get on track towards a meaningful version of the life we have in front of us.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT can be an incredibly helpful way of understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and actions work together. It offers powerful strategies for making changes where you want it. Together, we'll identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to the challenges you’re facing. By developing healthier coping mechanisms and practicing mindfulness techniques, you'll gain the tools to manage your symptoms and build a more fulfilling life. My approach is grounded in empathy and understanding, creating a safe and supportive space for your healing journey.
