Hello, I’m Dr. CJ and I’m glad you’re considering counseling! Whether you are new to therapy or just online counseling in general, I’m here to assist you in your time of need. I have 14 years of counseling experience and look forward to getting to know you better. My highest degree is a Doctorate of Philosophy in Rehabilitation Counseling and Administration. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS# S9531) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC # 00272838).

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My style is nurturing and empathetic, with honesty and challenge. I want to provide a relationship where you feel validated and confident enough to make steps toward bettering your life. We all have an idea of the person we want to be and sometimes we need a safe space to grow and then take flight. I’m hoping our interaction can be that for you. As we work together, I would like to find out what is important to you and what outcomes you would like to see. I view you as the keeper of the puzzle pieces of your life and myself as the assistant that helps you put it together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very transparent about my processing, so if I notice repetitive themes or patterns of behavior that stand out, I will attempt to bring them to your attention in an explorative conversation instead of a seemingly confrontational manner. You are always welcome to express any questions, comments, or concerns to me regarding our interaction or any of the content we discuss. Your comfort with the process is key.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I always start with a person-centered approach to get an overview and understanding of concerns from clients.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I often like to work with clients and couples to connect and understand "the feelings beneath the words" of what they are saying and experiencing to increase validation and clarity.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Sometime we just need a few sessions to refocus and come up with a plan of action, and I utilize a solution-focused approach to make that happen with clients.

Supportive

Knowing what you need or want to work on can be difficult, and sometimes we just need a safe space to process. I provide supportive therapy in an effort to create those safe spaces.
