First session
Our first time meeting with serve as an intake appointment which means I will gather a lot of information about your past as well as learn more about what is going on currently regarding what is brining you to therapy now. We will come up with goals together that will act as a roadmap for our work together. My hope is that after our first time meeting, you will feel more comfortable and confident in moving forward to future sessions.
Strengths
The strengths I bring to sessions are my compassion and understanding. Before I challenge you, I want to understand and validate your experience. Life isn't always easy and as people sometimes we just need a safe space to let it out first before figuring out what to do with it. I will give you the listening ear you need and then work with you to come up with a plan together on how to move forward. You are the expert of your life and I am here to support and be a soundboard and guide along the way.
Ideal clients
I have worked with clients ranging from young children through adulthood. On this platform, I am open to working with adults 18 years and up. I have experience working with clients struggling with a variety of mental health needs including anxiety, depression, anger/irritability, relational trauma, work burn out, and ADHD. I enjoy working with anyone who is willing to put the work in during sessions and is motivated for treatment.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is an approach that feels like teamwork. The basis of this framework focuses on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and behaviors/actions are interrelated and influence one another. Together, we will investigate this thought-feeling-behavior loop to identify specific triggers, the automatic thoughts that come up, and the subsequent feelings and actions or responses you have in your everyday life. Once we understand that loop we can take action to make changes to interrupt the cycle of problematic thinking and change unhealthy or unhelpful responses.
