I am a licensed counselor, a board certified registered art therapist and a registered play therapist.
I am a creative, open and welcoming therapist, artist, parent, and survivor. I bring my whole-self to therapy so that I can support you and you can also bring your whole self to the process.
First session
In our first session, we start with getting to know each other and seeing whether or not we are a good fit for therapy. We then move on to reviewing the paperwork and confidentiality; address your initial concerns and work on setting goals together. You are in charge of your therapy and I am there to support you in the process, so I want to hear about your needs.
Strengths
I am compassionate, creative and open. I believe in my clients' abilities to care for themselves, know their own needs, and express the wonderful people they are. I have many years of experience as a create therapist and counselor and see time and time again how amazing my clients can be when they have the support they need.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with people from adolescence through the late years that are interested in learning about themselves, open to self reflection and who need someone to lean on. I love seeing my clients become themselves, trust themselves, and heal from the many traumas/hurts they have experienced in their lives. My goal is to help you be you and to grow in a healthy manner.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I prefer to use EMDR with persons who have a history of Trauma as a way to work with emotional escalation and decrease the impacts of trauma
Gender-affirming therapy
As part of the queer community, I love working with with all clients on gender, sexuality, expression, identity, and affection.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I believe that we are always moving towards wanting to be healthy. Using ACT, we can manage the roadblocks that we put in our way.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I always start any therapy from a person-centered approach because each of us are unique and we each have our own needs. I believe in unconditional positive regard and then move to other theories as needed by the client.
Compassion-Focused
I like to use compassion, self-compassion and acceptance approaches to therapy to explore self and past/present behaviors.
