I am a licensed independent clinical social worker in the District of Columbia and a licensed certified clinical social worker in the states of Virginia (with pending licensure in other states). I have over 16 years of independent clinical experience providing, private practice services, counseling services for the federal government and counseling individuals and families in non-profit and medical settings, military members and their families. I have provided psycho-education groups, professional development consultations/presentations, psychosocial assessments and multi-therapeutic counseling to clients with a variety of mental health and substance abuse disorders.

First session

During our first session we can discuss what your goals are for your areas of concern. We can work together as I assist you in developing a plan of action and action steps for achieving those goals and focusing on your “whole” picture, therefore allowing you to positively progress in the areas of concern to you.

Strengths

I feel that I am good at listening, breaking things down, meeting the client where they are and then building them up/ motivating them along the way.

I feel that clients who choose to be motivated and who truly want to change their areas of concern in their life and find healing are those I am best positioned to serve.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I find that CBT and SFBT allow the client to lead their session and feel more in control of their goals for their best outcome. The therapist is there to assist the client in navigation into and through their emotions and blocks that come up. They also have an accountability partner built in.

I have come a long way in a very short amount of time. Beverly Toussaint Is the real deal! I really look forward to our sessions. By the time they are over - I am feeling like I can do anything that I set my mind to do. I always feel safe and respected no matter what I need to get off of my chest. I am very thankful for finding someone who is committed to helping me grow as a person and navigate emotions and feelings that can sometimes become heavier than expected to carry alone.

I feel like she’ll be a great fit for me. She’s already helping me more than my last therapist and it was only 1 session. I like the fact that she already has tasks to help me instead of just listening to me without any actual direction or support.
