Living well - mind, body & spirit - is the goal many strive for daily. However, sometimes life throws you a curve ball and you find it hard to keep all the balls of life going. Working as a professional Social Worker for many years in hospitals and various other settings has afforded me the opportunity to have extensive experiences with clients that have had multiple needs. My specialties include: general life adjustments, crisis intervention, grief and loss, substance abuse, trauma, mild to chronic medical conditions and illnesses, interpersonal violence (Adult Survivors of Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, Abuse and Sexual Assault), community violence, re-entry and adoption/foster care issues. Having the following specialized certifications have equipped me to work with you, the client, to manage these and other very sensitive life issues: Expressive Art Practitioner Certification (national), Sexual Assault Advocate Certification, Domestic Violence Counselor Certification, Batterers' Intervention Program Facilitator Certification and the Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) Facilitator Certification. Building and maintaining rapport is my priority throughout our time together as this is an important task in developing a strong therapeutic foundation and relationship. Together we build from there leading to a journey of growth and healing. Let's work in partnership to help you LIVE WELL - mind, body and spirit.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

This is a partnership but you are the driver. I support your journey to healing. It is my hope that you feel comfortable in our time together trusting that together we will identify the best path to remedy the symptoms which may be interfering with you feeling and being your best self. Therapy is not a magic pill. Be prepared to work in and outside of our time together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am eccletic is my treatment methods when working with my clients. Meaning, I pull from various treatment approaches, theoretical orientations in order to support you as an individual. My foundation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); however, here are other theoretical orientations I subscribe to and incorporate, if appropriate: Humanistic Expressive Arts Holistic Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Person-Centered Strength-Based Christian Counseling

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I can support you through general anxiety, depression, and general life adjustments; however, supporting clients managing sensitive issues like being a survivor of Child Abuse, Intimate Partner Violence/Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, managing chronic medical conditions and illnesses including new medical diagnosis, and grief/loss are my specific niches. In addition, as a result of my extensive work experience, clients who identify as victims of crime, former foster youth and/or Transitional Age Youth, formerly incarcerated, first responders, and healthcare professionals hold a special place in my practice.
