I believe that every individual deserves compassion, understanding, and quality care, and I strive to offer just that to every patient I work with. My approach to treatment is holistic, considering not only the symptoms, but also the underlying causes and how to best support each patient's recovery journey.
First session
My goal is to build trust from the moment we meet. My intention is to create a safe space, fostering acceptance of your complex variety of human emotions, behaviors, and experiences. If they were all "good," you wouldn't be seeking help:)
Strengths
I truly believe that helping people in need of psychiatric treatment is my life's purpose. Understanding who you are and what you value is important to me. Previous clients have stated, "I feel seen," and "you have helped me more than any other provider." It is my goal that you feel heard, seen, and accepted. Let's work together to develop a plan of care to meet your goals for wellness!
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps individuals identify and change negative thought and behavior patterns. It's a structured, goal-oriented approach that can be used to treat a variety of mental health conditions and emotional concerns, to include, but not limited to depression and anxiety.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals resolve ambivalence and build intrinsic motivation to change their behavior. It's a person-centered, non-confrontational, collaborative, and supportive method that focuses on exploring a person's own reasons for change, rather than imposing external motivations. MI is often used in various settings, including addiction treatment, healthcare, and therapy, to help individuals overcome resistance and commit to positive behavior changes. MI emphasizes the individual's autonomy and self-determination, focusing on their values and goals.
Interpersonal
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a time-limited, focused psychotherapy that helps individuals improve their mental health by addressing relationship problems and interpersonal difficulties. It's based on the idea that psychological symptoms, like depression, are often linked to current relationship issues and life events. IPT aims to reduce symptoms by improving communication, enhancing social skills, and strengthening social support networks
Supportive
Supportive therapy, is a client-centered approach that focuses on building a strong, trusting relationship between therapist and patient. It aims to provide a safe space for expressing emotions, building self-esteem, and developing coping skills, often focusing on the present, without delving deeply into past traumas or complex psychological issues.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy combines mindfulness practices with other therapeutic techniques to help individuals become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations in the present moment. It aims to reduce stress, anxiety, and other emotions by promoting non-judgmental acceptance of these experiences.
