I’m Chris Mokongu, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) providing telehealth psychiatric care. I work with children ages 6 and older, adolescents, and adults, with a primary focus on ADHD evaluation and medication management. I also treat anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD/ trauma-related symptoms and more, using an evidence-based, patient-centered approach. My work emphasizes psychiatric assessment, medication management, and collaborative treatment planning to support improved focus, mood stability, and daily functioning. I’m licensed to practice in Minnesota, Oregon, and North Dakota, and I aim to provide clear guidance, thoughtful care, and practical treatment that fits each client’s needs.
The first session is a psychiatric evaluation focused on understanding symptoms, history, and how concerns are affecting daily functioning at home, school, or work. For adults, we’ll discuss focus, mood, stressors, sleep, and overall functioning. For children and adolescents, we’ll review developmental history, academic performance, behavior, and family concerns. With a primary focus on medication management, we’ll review diagnostic impressions, discuss treatment options when appropriate, and outline next steps. Time is set aside for questions, and decisions are made collaboratively. The goal of the first visit is clarity, safety, and establishing an effective treatment plan.
My greatest strengths are clear assessment, thoughtful medication management, and collaborative decision-making. I bring over 10 years of mental health experience and focus on helping clients understand their symptoms, diagnoses, and treatment options in practical, straightforward terms. I am experienced in diagnosing and treating the full range of mental health disorders, not just common presentations. Treatment is individualized, evidence-based, and adjusted based on real-world outcomes such as focus, mood stability, emotional regulation, and daily functioning, rather than symptom checklists alone.
I am best positioned to work with children ages 6 and older and adolescents who need psychiatric evaluation and medication management for ADHD, as well as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, and other mental health conditions that affect school performance, behavior, emotional regulation, or daily functioning. I also work with adults seeking psychiatric care for ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related symptoms, and other mental health disorders. I am trained to diagnose and treat the full range of mental health conditions, and treatment plans are tailored based on age, symptoms, and clinical needs.

Solution Oriented, Authentic, and Direct (NOT IN A BAD). I would choose those too. I have been suggested therapy multiple times over my years and never done. I did because I knew I needed it at this time. I can’t express enough how amazing this experience was. Comfortable, easy to word vomit( me just being me and not thinking about how to say things or what to say) caring, and no judgment! I do feel a bit better, but it takes time too. Looking forward to next visit and updates. Thank you :)
