I've provided mental health services in country settings in Missouri, city locations such as St. Louis and New York, along with work within every level of care (outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment) since the mid-1990s. I hold two graduate degrees from Lindenwood University in the metro St. Louis area, with one of which being in Counseling. My current state of license as a Professional Counselor is in New Jersey and have previously been licensed in Missouri and Illinois. I have had post graduate training in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. My approach has been refined over years for a person-centered focus with young to older adults struggling with multiple issues, such as depression, anxiety and addiction.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is about exploring what you are feeling at that moment, your view of your life, and what outcomes you expect out of therapy. I will ask questions concerning your values from a non-judgemental perspective. Each person has their own view of the world and what is important to have in there world. It is something that is not for others to judge. Going forward we will work toward making changes that better align your life with those values, whether is overcoming fears, moving forward from the past, addiction or other issues. We will set regular goals, no matter how small they may seem. Just keep on swimming forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

No judgements. Everybody wakes up and tries to make the best decisions to grow, but somewhere along the journey an attempted solution to a problem can become a bigger complication. While I use evidence based techniques to counseling, I work with you to make the tools relevant in your context through a creative exercises, whether it is art, cooking, exercise or whatever helps you grow.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing explores what values are important to each unique individual. Once identified, the next question is how can a person become aligned with those ideals within their emotions, thoughts, and daily routines. We will explore a plan for change to meet your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Many of the exercises I use in my practice come from cognitive behavioral therapy methods. We pinpoint what your dysfunctional automatic thoughts that arise and begin to work toward reframing those cognitions into a healthier outlook.
