Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Colorado, originally from the east coast. I received my Masters of Social Work from Arizona State University. I have been practicing for the past three years, with a total of seven years of experience working in the mental health field. My practice has focused on trauma work and trauma informed care with adolescents and adults. I have worked closely with clients dealing with various anxiety and depressive disorders. My hope is to create a safe space for clients and work with their strengths in order to meet their desired outcomes.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

First sessions are a wonderful space to get to know one another. I believe in the power of therapeutic rapport, so during our first session we go over what to expect in our sessions, my background, and more importantly taking time to get to know you. I often will ask what brought you to therapy, review any challenges, emotional or mental barriers, or even recent distressing events. I also like to ask of you have previously been in therapy, if so, what works well for your and if this is your first time, what expectations or even reservations you might have. I also think it's important to note that during this session and following, you never have to share anything you are not comfortable with. These first few sessions are about getting to know one another, including if I'm a good fit. Moving through the first session we will work together to highlight what you would like to explore or work on. My goal is what is best for you and to be a support.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a provider my strengths reveal themselves to clients in the way that approach sensitive concerns through empathy and giving space, even if it's just to first listen. Having worked in trauma-informed care for over five years I have learned that many times the issues we are facing may have roots elsewhere. Using strengths perspective and solutions focused techniques in a trauma-informed approach I have seen client walk through difficult situations with grace and feeling more in control. I believe in meeting clients where they are at and letting them drive their sessions in order to meet their desired outcomes.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If life ever feels overwhelming and that everyone you has the tools to get through day to day and you feel like maybe you didn't get the manual to life, then maybe this space can help! Taking this first step to explore therapy could be the difference in how you are able to work through stressful incidents, as well as managing intense emotions. My hope is that during our time together we can identify your strengths to build personalized coping skills, while creating a safe space. Therapy is about trust and my client's are always in control. I approach therapy with a client centered approach and do not come into sessions with an agenda. Clients who feel more comfortable with this style of therapy I hope that I can be a support in your journey.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I have over five years of experience working within a Trauma Informed Care approach with children, adolescents and adults. Understanding how trauma can impact one's mental, emotional and even physical state can be life changing. My hope is to bring this understanding into our session and provide a safe space to better process traumatic life experiences. Through collaboration, empowerment, and trustworthiness the aim in the treatment method is to acknowledge the trauma without re-traumatization by providing the client with choice and control during the sessions

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT therapy can be a helpful approach to clients struggling with anxiety, depression, and even working through unwanted behaviors. My experience utilizing ACT has helped patients identify and explore their values to use as a mechanism to build to their desired results. Patients can begin to experience psychological flexibility by establishing their control when dealing with difficult emotions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been working with CBT modalities for the past five years to help patient better identify and challenge their intrusive thoughts. CBT has been proven to support those working through anxiety, depression, trauma or stressor related disorders, as well as many other metal health disorders. In session CBT can be used to better understand how an intrusive thoughts can create feelings that are so strong they can impact behaviors and actions. CBT can be gradually incorporated into sessions and outside to help clients improve understanding of their thoughts and increase coping skills.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been utilizing DBT in practice for over three years to help clients improve their emotional regulation, grounding techniques, and mindfulness practices. DBT helps improve distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness, which can be utilized for clients struggling in relationships or wanting to improve boundaries. DBT is a technique that can be accessed in and out of session, helping clients can confidence through real-world application.
