My name is Susan. Thank you for stopping by. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Pennsylvania for 25 years. Additionally, 15 years of my career have included providing clinical supervision for aspiring clinicians. I have worked with a diverse range of clients, including adults, couples and families, specializing in anxiety, depression, grief and relationship issues. My approach in providing therapy combines evidence based techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and solution focused therapy with a compassionate and collaborative style to create a safe space for growth and healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session revolves around developing rapport. Are we a good fit? Therapy can be anxiety provoking. My approach is let us chat and let you determine, based on initial contact, your comfort level. This is your session. Also, the first session is your opportunity to interview me. Ask me anything you want. The goal of initial contact is laying the foundation of the establishment of a partnership.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength as a provider is rooted in my communication style which consists of empathy, respect and collaboration. During my 25 years of experience, I have often been described, by clients as being laid back, which often puts people at ease.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with all kinds of individuals. My career has exposed me to all ages and challenges faced. I have worked with young adults, individuals with chronic mental illness and seniors and their families. My work at a long term care facility for 18 years, exposed me to a diverse population. The common factor with all clients was assisting them in overcoming the fear and sadly, the stigma often attached to seeking help. I perceive seeking assistance in enhancing the quality of life as a strength. Clients I am best positioned to serve...don't like to rule anyone out Let's do a consultation and see if you are comfortable with me

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 25 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Without navigating towards acceptance, we find ourselves walking a treadmill. Let's get off the treadmill and establish coping strategies.

Eclectic

With this approach, let's employ what works for you. That could range from a cognitive behavioral approach mixed in with solution focused therapy and self esteem building exercises. Let's tailor an approach that enhances the quality of your life. We are all different, let's come up with an approach that best meets your needs.
