(she/her)
Welcome! I'm Jennifer. Take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share.
Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable. I check in frequently so we can co-create a short and long term plan that will lead to healing and recovery.
Having worked with teens, and adults over the last 25 years, I've developed a tried and true playbook based on evidence based practice. That means the interventions and overall treatment has been proven to be effective. We will work together to help you develop personal insight, acknowledge your thoughts, feelings, and actions, and come up with ways to improve your overall quality of life.
I love working with adolescents, and adults of all gender identity. I truly understand that life has become stressful for increasingly younger aged people through the impact of cultural, political, career, and social elements, as well as family history and life's demands.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Many clients find themselves overwhelmed and ruminating on the past or worried about the future. DBT helps clients gain a deeper understanding of and accept their emotions and behaviors without judgment, and teaches specific coping skills proven to change them. Clients who suffer with emotional overwhelm, anxiety, high risk substance abuse have had tremendous success in DBT. I help clients see that they can create a life worth living.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps clients to gain control over their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be the result of their childhood, a negative perspective, or their automatic thoughts.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
In ACT, clients learn to stop avoiding, denying, and struggling with their inner emotions and, instead, accept that these deeper feelings are appropriate responses to certain situations in their life. With this understanding, clients begin to accept their hardships and commit to making necessary changes in their behavior, regardless of what is going on in their lives and how they feel about it. This is particularly helpful when clients are suffering with anxiety and unexpected or unwanted events in their life.

This was my first session (never been to personal therapy before). She made me feel important. I felt listened to, I felt her questions and the discussion were relevant to the challenges I was bringing to the table, and I am looking forward to working with her into the foreseeable future as we work on me.
