Hello there, my name is Joy. I think it is wonderful that you have decided to try therapy. Deciding to come to therapy is a big decision and takes courage. My passion is for individual psychotherapy. People come to work with me on issues such as depression, anxiety, grief/loss, life transitions and relationship concerns. I have expertise in each of these problems and feel that it is an honor to be invited to accompany my patients on this part of their journey. I am passionate about social justice, my work and making the world a better place. I am an anti-racist, anti-sexist, and LGBTQIA+ affirming clinician.
During our first session we will see if it is a good fit. You should feel safe and able to speak your mind and ask any questions about me and the process. This is our time to get to know it other and gauge whether treatment with me might be helpful to you.
I have expertise in grief, loss, transitions and adjustment to medical conditions.
I consider you an expert on your life and therapy is meant to enhance and help through lifes changes. My job is to help navigate and support you through this journey.

i was attracted to Joy after reading her bio and seeing her emphasis on integrating a psychiatric approach to care, feeling that this was something i had been missing from other therapists (it is possible that could be due more to my approach and nothing to do with them), but with that aside, i am finding my sessions with her to be very helpful and encouraging. I feel very fortunate to have connected with Joy, and am looking forward to working with her on my journey.
