My journey into this profession started through my own search for healing after I experienced insecurities and pressures while growing up as the daugther of immigrants. With time this journey brought me into the spaces of social work and community mental health where I provided therapeutic support for other individuals who also sought to overcome their personal hardships. Much of my current work is centered around young latina/os who are trying to navigate the pressures of the workforce, want to improve their relationships (personal or professional), and seek to balance thier cultural and familial experiences with mainstream expectations. In my private practice I pull from an eclectic collection of therapies to address my clients’ current concerns, insecurities, anxiety, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and self- defeating beliefs that may interfere with their daily functions. I also take into consideration my clients' family and cultural background , personal hardships, traumas, and other factors that make their experiences unique. With all of this said, I hope to make therapy as meaningful and supportive as possible.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is esentially an intake where you will have the time to talk about the main issues and circumstances that bring you to therapy at this time. We'll talk about any stressors, relevant history, and your main goals for therapy. I’ll also discuss with you about what to expect in therapy, like the estimated duration of treatment, therapeutic practices that we'll use in therapy, billing, and other bookkeeping items. You have the chance to review our written agreements and consents before you decide to move forward with therapy. But most importantly, we’ll get to determine whether we're a good fit to work together and then we can take it from there.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What I can contirbute to therapy is my experience with indivduals of all walks of life. I have worked in both community mental health and private practice for the past thirteen years. But with those years came the opportuntiy to meet folks who have lived through all sorts of life experiences, personal hardships, stressors, and yet have so me sort of hope for a better tomorrow. Therefore, with my current pratice I want to bring all of this collective experience along with that underlying hope for change. In my private practice I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Benahvioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Problem-Solving Therapy. These therapies give structure to our sessions and provide practical skills to help you manage through your presenting issues. Although I hold space to make therapy as comfortable as possible, I also provide perspective, accountability, and non-judgemental feedback to support you during your therapeutic journey. Despite my experience I also make sure that I keep myself informed of any recent updates in this field. More importantly, though, I am always open to learn from my clients because at the end of they day they are the best experts in their own life journey's.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you're ready to turn the page to a new chapter in your life or want to make that change but don't know where to begin, then therapy could be a good place to start. I'll work closely with you to identify our main focus in therapy and discuss any underlying issues that may contribute to your present situation. My primary focus is with adults who want to manage their relationships, improve their self-esteem, address insecurities, and who seek to balance personal life with work expectations. I also work with clients who want to manage intense emotions, such as anger or anxiety. I support clients to develop effective communication skills, create healthy boundaries, and learn coping strategies to better channel their emotions. If this is something that you've experienced and wish to further discuss, then I welcome you consider therapy for professional support.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I engage my clients in meaningful conversations that allow them to consider how they can take active steps to make positive change in their lives-- no matter how difficult things may get at times. We work closely together to develop a treatment plan that is catered to their specific therapy goals and needs. Through a series of engaging therapy sessions, I will support my client as they develop healthy coping strategies, healthy communication skills, problem solving, mindfulness, and regulation of emotions, amongst other skills.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Through this engaging therapy style, I encourage my clients to discuss their current issues related to relationships problems, mood swings, and stress management. I will work closely with clients to help them develop skills to effectively navigate difficult life situations, improve communication and relationship with others, regulate emotions and mood-swings, and life a life worth living.

Eclectic

I integrate my previous therapy experiences to cater to each client’s specific needs. It will be a combination of both therapeutic conversations, problem solving, skills development and other helpful strategies that will be better suited for the client's situation.

Narrative

This therapy style allows more of an opportunity for my clients to talk through situations and struggles. Both the client and I will be able to process the identified issues in a manner that allows for reflection and healing.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Like the name says, ACT Therapy helps clients to manage through and accept situations that may be otherwise difficult to change. This therapy is particularly helpful for individuals who are learning to live with and manage through health conditions or mobility issues. While doing this therapy I help clients to consider thoughts that are more reflective of their current situations and also work with them to learn skills to improve their motivation and daily activities/
