Hi there, my name is Marcia S, I am of Caribbean descent. I am a licensed clinician with over 8 yrs. of psychotherapy experience working with adults and adolescents, both military and civilians. Is it hard for you to discover your true potential and live your best life? Are you struggling to keep a balance? As your therapist, I want to play a key role in removing the barriers and stigmas that keep you from addressing the hurt, pain, shame, anger, depression, anxiety etc. you are experiencing. My areas of expertise include Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Grief, Anger, Stress, Self-esteem, Conflict Resolution, PTSD, and Interpersonal-Relationships Issues through group and/or Individual Therapy. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The choice to seek therapy can be a stressful decision which takes both personal strength and courage. My clients can expect to take away self-exploration, unconditional positive regard and understanding in a safe space. Clients will learn to evaluate their thinking, apply flexible thinking styles, improve emotional state and behavior. Each client can expect an authentic connection, feeling valued, welcomed, normalized experiences, active listening, validation, feeling empowerment, honesty, and knowing that the circle of life is an adjustment.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Treatment is tailored to the individual clients needs. Treatment methods used are: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Supportive Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interview, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance Therapy and Positive Psychology. Tools utilize include Observation, Interview, Mental Health Assessment and Screening, Rating Scales, Questionnaires Homework, Treatment Planning, Coping skills.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength as a therapist includes knowing how to form an authentic connection with my patients and ensuring they feel heard, understood, and respected. My active listening skill, being attune to a client’s verbal and non-verbal communication, being empathetic, welcoming feedback and listening without judgement has allowed me the opportunity to have a genuine connection with my patients. My niche includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cultural Competence, Client-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interview. I serve Adults, adolescents of all gender/sexual orientation/Identity, LGBTQ, culture, and racial backgrounds
