Hello, I’m a California Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My goal is to create a safe and trusting environment for you to explore and overcome any challenges you face while providing the emotional support you need. I have worked with teens and adults to overcome their life challenges and develop the coping skills necessary to become the best version of themselves. I spent time practicing my therapeutic skills as an intern trainee at the California State University, Fresno university clinic. Here I began to focus on working with teens and young adults to overcome challenges associated with life transitions, burnout, relationship issues, and mood disorders such as anxiety, grief, and depression. Working as part of a grant program with parolees and then a group private practice, I also gained significant experience working with individuals who have trauma history. Through this work, I was able to learn and implement a variety of modalities to effectively address the impacts of trauma. I love my work as a therapist and would be happy to be part of your journey.
My goal in the first session is to provide a space in which you feel safe and heard. We’ll start with introductions and then I’ll focus on learning about your specific and unique needs. This will allow me to work collaboratively with you to create a treatment plan that is tailored to you to guide our follow-up sessions. The first session will generally last 55-60 minutes and will include any background you are comfortable sharing.
I strive to create a sense of empowerment and hope in clients. My strength is meeting clients where they are at in their healing journey and providing person-centered treatment. Building a relationship with the client is central to my practice and my ability to validate their experiences and challenges.
I utilize a CBT model as the foundation for practice. The focus of CBT in my practice is on adapting behavior and thought to impact mood. I work collaboratively with clients to help them recognize and challenge cognitive distortions that contribute to negative emotions and behaviors. I use CBT to help empower clients and build their confidence to navigate challenges more effectively.
I use mindfulness throughout my therapeutic approach with clients with the goal of helping them develop acceptance and a non-judgmental stance towards their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. With mindfulness we’ll practice present-moment awareness and fully engaging the client’s sensory experiences. The focus of mindfulness is on the client developing deeper connection with and acceptance of themselves and fostering a sense of self compassion.
Motivational interviewing is a style of communication in sessions that is both collaborative and goal-oriented. I use motivational therapy in my practice to help strengthen their personal motivation and commitment to change goals. Through motivational interviewing I help explore the client’s own reasons for change while providing acceptance and compassion.
I use the most relevant techniques from other evidence-based modalities to provide an individualized treatment plan. Using an eclectic perspective I can tailor each session to the client's unique needs for more effective treatment.
