I have Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) certification and am obtaining additional certifications in this area to treat both childhood and adult trauma, and to treat trauma I utilize trauma focused Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, and CBT approaches.
In my practice I utilize CBT to address varying diagnosis and symptoms, including but not limited to trauma, depression, anxiety disorders, and self esteem, in order to assist clients in self care, adaptive coping, and challenging and reframing self critical thoughts and feelings triggered in their present lives.
I provide Compassion focused therapy in conjunction with treatment for trauma, depression, challenges to self-esteem, and is applied in assisting clients experiencing self critical thoughts and feelings, self doubt, guilt and shame. I find Compassion focused therapy beneficial to support client's in self care, validation, and nurturing parts of self that are stuck in maladaptive and self-critical responses to emotional distress.
I incorporate DBT in treatment for the majority of my clients, as I find it beneficial in DBT's focus on mindfulness of our emotional experiences, triggers, and causal factors stemming from distressing events and/or experiences throughout our lives. I find this awareness supports people improve self care and adaptive coping, and to be able to pair onset of triggered distress and mental health conditions with self care, compassion, grounding, and adaptive coping. DBT has been beneficial in supporting my clientele build the foundation for self care, self-esteem. and improved sense of identify and self acceptance. This foundation also assists clients in learning and applying other treatment modalities, as mindfulness, self care, and grounding, for example, supports clients in building a window of tolerance for CBT to challenge and reframe self critical thoughts and feelings that they prior have adopted as part of their identity.
I primarily utilize Trauma focused Internal Family Systems in treatment of clientele who have experiences severe stress and/or trauma which has resulted in dissociative symptoms, numbing, flight or fight responses, and other stress and trauma responses which may have been protective during trauma, however are maladaptive in their present lives. Internal family Systems has been beneficial in helping client's nurture parts of themselves that feel stuck in trauma and stress they experienced throughout their lives, and improve care, compassion, and nurturing, as well as adaptive coping to pair with current stressors and triggers.
