Melody Claiborne
I'm Melody Claiborne, a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related conditions, and mood disorders in adults, offering thorough diagnostic evaluations and personalized medication management. I believe in care that sees the whole person — not just a diagnosis. Having witnessed patients go unheard during their most vulnerable moments, I built my practice around genuine advocacy and connection. I work at your pace, in a safe and supportive environment where your concerns are fully heard and your goals guide your treatment.
First session
Taking the first step towards therapy/medication management can be a daunting task, but it's a brave decision that deserves recognition. I understand that mental health issues can be overwhelming and isolating, which is why I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment where you can feel heard, seen, understood, and supported. During your initial session, you will discuss your presenting concerns, history, and background. You'll have the opportunity to talk about your current symptoms, struggles, relationships, interests, strengths, and goals. If relevant, you'll also review past medication treatments, current medications, and treatment recommendations. Your provider may prescribe or refill medications during this first meeting. In our first session, expect a warm, judgment-free conversation. I'll take time to understand your history, concerns, and goals — there's no rush. You'll leave with a clear plan and, most importantly, the confidence that you have a provider truly in your corner.
Strengths
My approach is compassionate, patient-centered, and empowering. I take time to understand your unique story, values, and goals before building a tailored treatment plan, combining evidence-based psychiatric care with genuine advocacy — because feeling truly heard is the foundation of healing. As an adjunct professor and member of professional nursing associations, including the National Black Nurse Practitioners Association and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, I'm dedicated to culturally competent, evidence-based care for diverse populations. I'm driven by a mission to promote mental health awareness and destigmatize psychiatric illness, and committed to fostering trust and building strong rapport — creating a safe space where you can feel like a true partner in your journey toward mental wellness.
