Hi, my name is Angela. I am an APRN, PMHNP-BC, with 14 years of experience as a psych nurse and three years as a psych nurse practitioner working with clients with varied mental health challenges. My treatment philosophy is a holistic, individualistic approach to enhancing well-being and recovery. I am licensed in MD, ME, TX, and WV. I not only welcome differences but embrace them. I have and practice positive regard towards my clients. Every day is an opportunity to be a change agent and impact someone’s life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After a brief introduction, we will start on and clarify your mental health challenges, then tailor a specific individualistic plan of treatment that focuses on your unique issue.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with the inpatient adult and geriatric populations and understand the unique dilemma that these populations have when it comes to psychiatric medications and their side effects. I have developed a reputation as an independent professional who listens empathetically to deliver exceptional results.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

As an adult psych nurse practitioner, I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a treatment method I have used to manage conditions such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and addictions. It is a structured, goal-oriented talk therapy that teaches coping skills and focuses on thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes to manage mental health conditions effectively. I have used CBT for clients who do not have mental health conditions but need help to learn better ways to handle stressful situations.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a treatment method I have used to help my clients find the motivation to change negative behavior, utilizing open-ended questions to address the problem behavior.

Supportive

The supportive treatment method is effective in treating a variety of emotional challenges and mental health concerns. It has been used to help my clients better adjust to reality. It has been used to alleviate symptoms, improve self-esteem, and reinforce the ability to cope with life stressors and challenges.
