Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) serving clients throughout the state of Virginia. I received my Masters from Liberty University and have been practicing for 7 years. I help young adults, adults and couples struggling with varying life stressors. Stress happens to everyone and for some, the overwhelming feeling of stress can sometimes feel like we are losing grasp of several things at once and we have loose ends flailing around. I aim to help my clients grab hold of their loose ends, one at a time and begin to unravel the strands of stress, in order to bring clarity and calm to their lives again, one session at a time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In a first session with me, my clients should expect to feel not judged, have their feelings validated and heard. We will start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing so we can begin untangling the strings needed for change. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with clients ranging from small children to adults for the past 7 years, I've developed a humanistic approach that allows my clients to identify the root cause of their challenges and to create a client specific plan that leads to progress that can be measured.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with people of all ages who are ready to make change, through recognizing their stressors and to learn to grab hold of the loose ends and pull things together to make them more manageable on a day to day experience. It takes courage to want to speak to someone about things that are going on in our lives, so I applaud you for doing just that. Typically, my clients come to me feeling anxious, overwhelmed, unsure about their direction in life, perhaps unheard by a partner, feeling stuck in some aspect of life. My goal is to help you learn to become unstuck.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

By helping someone recognize their negative thinking patterns, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help someone become aware of their inaccurate, or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way overall. These changes, made through small steps, can improve the way one feels and deals with current issues at hand. I use CBT in my practice by challenging a clients thoughts to allow internal reflection to spark an interest in intrinsic change.

Humanistic

The goal of using the Humanistic Theory is to help someone explore their feelings by focusing of their own strengths and learning to develop a strong and healthy sense of self. I do not box in my clients by categories. When someone comes to me for help, I treat them as the individual they are and treat the person, not the category. I work to meet someone where they are and help the client discover what that clients needs are and how they are going to meet their goals.
