Welcome to Grow Therapy! I am a nationally board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 6 years of experience treating mental health, and over 20 years of nursing experience in emergency and cardiac care. I received my Masters at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and my Post-Masters in Psychiatry at Regis College near Boston. I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for clients looking for a practical, holistic approach that encompasses mind, body, and spirit and is tailored to each individual's unique needs and life experiences.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session of the psychiatric evaluation, we will discuss your concerns, goals, psychiatric history, medical history, background information, diagnosis and treatment plan which may include therapy and/or medication. The psychiatric evaluation typically takes 1 hour. Based on your treatment plan, you may be scheduled for a follow-up medication management appointment with me and/or referred to a therapist for therapy. I do incorporate a little therapy into our sessions, but I also want to ensure you receive the best care possible from a therapist who specializes in your specific needs. The medication management appointments will assess how well your medication is working, discuss any side effects you may be experiencing, and determine if any changes to your medication are needed. The medication management appointment is typically 15-30 minutes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive for an accurate diagnosis to ensure the most appropriate treatment for each individual's mental health needs. I am known for building a trusting relationship in a nonjudgmental space, where you can feel safe to share openly. My holistic approach recognizes that everyone has unique life experiences that have impacted their mental health, and I am here to support your journey with compassion and understanding—addressing mind, body, and spirit for balanced well-being.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal client is someone who is willing to build a trusting relationship and is open about their thoughts, feelings, and struggles. They are fully engaged and committed to obtaining an accurate diagnosis and adhering to an agreed-upon treatment plan. They are also open to understanding their mental health and willing to explore how behavior, thoughts, and emotions affect their life.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing has wide applicability to assist clients in reaching their goals. I use it to assist clients with medication adherence, smoking cessation, improving nutrition and physical activity, depression, anxiety, and maintaining sobriety.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help clients become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so they can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. It can also be a very helpful tool in combination with other therapies to treat depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety. In addition, CBT can be an effective tool to help anyone learn how to better manage stressful life situations.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology focuses on your strengths, gratitude and awareness, connection with others, and the wisdom needed to live a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
