I was born in Raleigh, NC. After graduating from East Carolina University, I moved to New York City to obtain my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University in 2019. I provide trauma-informed therapy primarily to adolescents and adults, who are experiencing grief, anxiety/depression, and identity struggles due to life transitions. When I am not in session, I enjoy cooking, reading, and listening to podcasts.
I am intentional in creating a space for you that is anti-oppressive, safe, and supportive. Let’s get to know one another and discuss what brings you to therapy and how I can best support you on your path to healing.
My approach is primarily focused on building a genuine and mutually respectful therapeutic relationship with my clients. I aim to create a space that is warm, inviting, and safe for them to explore all of their thoughts and feelings.
Working with various individuals, especially within marginalized groups, has taught me the importance of community. Therapy should feel collaborative and authentic for it to be most effective. Together, I work with my clients to unpack any negative thought patterns that could make them feel anxious, scared, or stuck. I am honored to be on the journey with clients as they increase their emotional awareness and start to make the changes needed to become the best version of themselves.
I utilize CBT based practices to help client's identify any negative thought patterns that may be affecting the way they feel about themselves and their relationships with others.
I work with clients using CPT to support them in identifying their "stuck points" that can cause a downward spiraling of negative self-talk and help reframe their inner dialogue.
I using motivational interviewing to help clients identify and increase intrinsic motivators that will help them reach their goals and change any unwanted behaviors.
I support clients in understanding grief and loss, the stages of grief, and develop strategies to help them cope
