Hi, I'm Kaela Perez, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor serving individuals throughout Florida with over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and empowered to navigate life's challenges. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, CBT, and somatic interventions, to support healing and growth.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and talking about what brought you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, and what you hope to gain from our work together, but there's no pressure to share everything at once. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood from the very beginning.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, authenticity, and a collaborative approach to each session. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be themselves while also feeling supported and challenged in meaningful ways. My trauma-informed, nervous system-oriented perspective helps clients better understand their experiences, build self-compassion, and develop practical tools for navigating life's challenges.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. They are often looking for a supportive space to better understand their experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and create meaningful change. Whether you're working through past experiences or navigating current challenges, I'm here to support you every step of the way.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens, which means I prioritize safety, trust, and empowerment in every session. I recognize the impact that trauma can have on the mind, body, and sense of self, and I strive to create a space that feels grounded, supportive, and free of judgment. This approach honors your autonomy and respects the ways you’ve learned to cope. Together, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, working gently to build resilience, restore a sense of control, and support healing in a way that feels safe and empowering.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals process and heal from distressing experiences that may continue to impact them in the present. I integrate EMDR into treatment when appropriate, helping clients safely process difficult memories, reduce emotional distress, and develop a greater sense of confidence and resilience.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness can help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations without judgment. I incorporate mindfulness practices to support emotional regulation, stress reduction, and a stronger connection to the present moment.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that may contribute to emotional distress. I use CBT techniques to help clients develop greater self-awareness, build coping skills, and create healthier ways of responding to life's challenges.

Somatic

I incorporate somatic interventions to help clients better understand and respond to the connection between their mind and body. By increasing awareness of nervous system responses and physical sensations, clients can develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, and the effects of past experiences.
