About me

My name is Yarinika Miller, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) with 26 years of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and a variety of other mental health concerns. I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also incorporate a variety of evidence-based approaches into treatment, including Motivational Interviewing, Behavior Modification, Mindfulness, Grief Counseling, and Psychoeducation. I tailor treatment to meet each client's unique needs, strengths, and goals.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, trusting relationship. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you can openly share your concerns at your own pace. During the first session, I will ask questions to learn more about what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, your personal and family history, your strengths, and the goals you hope to achieve through counseling. We will discuss how your concerns are affecting your daily life, relationships, work, or school, and identify the areas you would like to improve.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients often describe me as down-to-earth, approachable, and easy to talk to. I strive to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where individuals feel heard, respected, and comfortable sharing even the most difficult parts of their lives. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change, and I am committed to helping clients build resilience, develop effective coping skills, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I welcome children, adolescents, adults, and families who are ready to take steps toward improving their emotional well-being, regardless of where they are in their healing journey. My ideal clients are individuals who are experiencing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, behavioral concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, family conflict, or life transitions and are looking for a supportive, compassionate environment to work through these concerns.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected. Sometimes we get caught in patterns of thinking that increase stress, anxiety, sadness, anger, or self-doubt without even realizing it. In therapy, we'll work together to recognize those patterns and learn healthier ways to respond to them. Rather than simply talking about problems, we'll also focus on practical solutions. I'll help you understand what triggers difficult emotions, how those emotions affect your behavior, and what you can do differently when challenging situations arise. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thoughts, replace them with more balanced and realistic ones, and practice skills that can help you feel more in control.
