First session

Your first session with me is a step toward understanding your mental health and creating a personalized plan for your well-being. My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and supported. What to Expect in Your First Session: 1. Getting to Know You: We’ll start by discussing your mental health history, current concerns, and overall goals for treatment. This is an open conversation where you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. 2. Exploring Your Symptoms: We’ll review any challenges you’ve been facing, whether it’s anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, or something else. I’ll ask questions to better understand what you’re experiencing and how it’s impacting your daily life. 3. Creating a Personalized Plan: Together, we’ll discuss possible treatment approaches, including therapy techniques, medication options, and lifestyle changes that may support your mental health journey. You’ll be involved in every step of decision-making. 4. Building a Supportive Relationship: This session is about trust and collaboration. You’ll have space to ask questions, express concerns, and explore strategies that work for you. This is when we decide if we want to establish a patient-provider relationship, which will begin at the follow-up appointment. 5. Next Steps & Follow-Up: Before we wrap up, we’ll outline a plan moving forward, whether that means scheduling follow-up sessions at which we assess medication effectiveness, current and new coping techniques, or explore additional resources. The first session isn’t about pressure or quick fixes; it’s about understanding you as a whole person and starting a journey toward healing at your own pace. My role is to guide and support you, but you’re in charge of your progress. Our follow-up session is when we establish the patient-provider relationship and we further explore how to meet your needs.

Strengths

As a doctorally-prepared psychiatric nurse practitioner, my greatest strength lies in my ability to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers my patients to take control of their mental health while educating them along the way. 1. Holistic Understanding of Mental Health: I don’t just focus on symptoms; I look at the whole picture, your experiences, relationships, lifestyle, and overall well-being to develop a treatment plan that truly fits you. 2. Advanced Clinical Decision-Making: My doctoral training allows me to assess complex cases, diagnose psychiatric conditions with precision, and create tailored treatment plans that align with your personal goals. 3. Empathy & Connection: I believe healing starts with feeling heard. You’ll always find a nonjudgmental, supportive space in our sessions, where your thoughts and emotions are validated. 4. Education, Leadership & Advocacy: I’m passionate about advocating mental health awareness and access to quality care. I stay informed on research and policy changes to ensure you receive the best possible treatment. Beyond clinical practice, I incorporate my doctoral studies in improving the healthcare system by being actively involved in mentoring future nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses. 5. Integration of Therapy & Medication Management: Unlike providers who focus solely on one aspect of treatment, I can offer a well-rounded approach that includes both psychotherapy and pharmacologic interventions when needed. 6. Commitment to Research & Innovation: Mental health care is constantly evolving, and I’m committed to staying ahead, learning new techniques, integrating the latest evidence, and refining my practice to serve you better. 7. Personalized, Patient-Centered Care: Your mental health journey is yours, not a one-size-fits-all process. I tailor every session, recommendation, and strategy to respect your experiences, strengths, and values. I don’t believe in just treating symptoms; I believe in helping you rediscover your resilience, regain confidence, and move forward with clarity. You deserve care that’s thoughtful, empowering, and uniquely yours, and that’s exactly what I strive to provide.

Ideal clients

As a board-certifed psychiatric nurse practitioner, I’m here to support individuals who are navigating life’s challenges, whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of your next steps. My approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based care, meaning we’ll work together to find solutions tailored to your unique needs. I’m best positioned to help individuals who: • Seek a safe, judgment-free space to express their thoughts and emotions. • Need medication management and psychotherapy • Want to gain insight into their feelings and break free from limiting beliefs. • Need support managing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, or mood disorders. • Are experiencing life transitions, whether it's stress from work, relationships, or personal growth. • Desire coping strategies that empower them to handle stress, improve emotional regulation, and build resilience. • Prefer a holistic, patient-centered approach that respects their experiences and goals rather than imposing rigid solutions. My goal is to manage your medication, help you strengthen your mindset, regain control, and find balance without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. Whether you’re looking for structured therapy, medication management, or a mix of both, I’m here to guide you toward healing in a way that feels right for you.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help patients recognize irrational or distorted thoughts and replace them with more balanced perspectives, teach ways to stay present, and manage stress. Gradually expose individuals to feared situations in a controlled way to reduce anxiety over time. Help practice social interactions and rehearse coping strategies for challenging situations, and individuals track their thoughts and emotions to identify patterns and triggers. I guide individuals in systematically addressing personal and professional challenges and break down overwhelming tasks into smaller, manageable steps to build confidence. Engagement in positive activities to counteract depression and improve mood is encouraged.
