New to Grow
¡Hola! I’m Dr. Aglaed Mayorga (ah-GLAH-ed), a licensed psychologist in California and the proud daughter of Nicaraguan and Mexican immigrants. For about twelve years, I’ve worked with people from many backgrounds. I offer talk therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles, and I help people understand the intergenerational patterns they inherited and how those show up in their current lives.
The first step is to start from within by giving yourself permission to share your story. If this is your first time putting it into words, the session may feel a bit discombobulating, and that’s actually a great sign. It means you’re getting started. Most people feel relief once the ball is rolling; just know that you won't be alone. I am here to guide you during our sessions.
My approach stands out because I understand the pull between cultures, including language, traditions, beliefs, and expectations, especially when life challenges and unresolved trauma compound it. I’m transparent, genuine, and grounded. My work is rooted in person-centered, humanistic therapy, and I draw from CBT, solution-focused therapy, and attachment theory as needed. My doctoral training gives me an analytical lens and the clinical judgment to know what fits each person, so you get both heart and expertise.
My ideal client feels caught between cultures and is curious about change. Maybe they’re the first in their family to talk about mental health, or they’re noticing patterns they inherited and want to understand them. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship struggles. They don’t need to have it all figured out. They just need to be willing to be honest, and I’ll meet them there.
My foundation is person-centered and humanistic. In practice, that means you’re the expert on your own life, and we move at your pace, around what matters to you. If you’ve never been in therapy, I won’t hand you a script or a label. You’ll be heard, respected, and treated as a whole person, not a diagnosis. From there, I integrate other evidence-based modalities as needed, tailoring tools and techniques to your needs, your story, and what’s showing up in the moment.
