LMHC, 32 years of experience
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and reside in Texas, I am also licensed in Colorado, Florida, Utah, South Carolina, and Vermont. I specialize in helping you identify and overcome issues that hinder your day-to-day enjoyment of life and/or interfere with progress towards goals you have set. In over thirty years of private practice counseling I have learned to meet clients’ needs not only with continued education and research but also through a multitude of life experiences. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients and have found that humor when utilized in an appropriate way and time can be very beneficial. I believe trust is a fundamental element in any relationship. This trust has to be developed and nurtured to remain genuine. Through trust other aspects important to the relationship can prosper such as comfort in being open, sincerity, and a willingness to change. I find that humor when utilized in an appropriate way and time can be very beneficial. I am a life-long Texan, however, I have traveled extensively and embraced many different cultures and location specific issues. Through all of life’s changes I have learned that, even with the best of plans, things still do not always work out the way we would like. I have experienced many of the same issues as my clients so can relate to them on a personal basis. This has also allowed me to acquire an understanding of what clients may be going through even if I have not experienced the exact situation. Through any adversity there is no reason to feel alone.
In our first session together, we will start with answering any questions you may have for myself or this process. Then we will explore the specific reasons you are seeking support. We will proceed by developing a plan of action to address those areas you are most concerned with. Our time together will feel more like a conversation than a psychological exploration.
I believe my greatest strengths are being non-judgmental and discernment in relating to and identifying the foundational issues for each client. These allow me to assist you in finding out, for yourself, what will be most beneficial in resolving the issue(s) that brought us together.
I am best suited to work with clients seeking support in spirituality, anxiety, life transitions, men's issues, relationships, and communication. My approach is holistic and empathetic, tailored to help individuals navigate the complexities of their inner and outer worlds. Additionally, I offer strategies for fostering personal growth and overall well-being.

We are a good match. He gives me guidance on challenges I am having and offers specific solutions - like exact words to say when I am stuck within a relationship dynamic. He also is gives me the internal tools I need to be confidant in my decisions and how to talk about these as something that was the right thing to do. I fully back Tommy Saathoff as a service professional who can help people be a better version of themselves.

Tommy has made it easy to get started as my first ever therapist. Talking with him feels like talking with a friend which, for me, is just what I needed.
I have provided Faith-Based counseling for 30 years for those who prefer a Christ-centered approach. I have also used this approach for those who are seeking, or questioning their spirituality and/or for those who may have been traumatized by their religious experiences.
I have utilized a CBT approach since I began providing counseling. I truly believe that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are undeniably connected. Building an awareness of how these aspects interact allows for integrating effective coping strategies.
This is an approach that combines techniques from different therapeutic disciplines to address a client's needs best. I have found that no one method is best. Each person is unique and should be treated as such.
