Kerry-Ann Greenland
I provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating conditions such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and co-occurring substance use challenges. I also have a strong commitment to caring for older adults, a population that is often underserved despite complex and evolving mental health needs. I understand that seeking help can feel overwhelming, especially during times of uncertainty or emotional distress. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, and work with you to build practical strategies that improve daily functioning and overall well-being. Whether you are struggling with focus, mood instability, life transitions, or substance use, we will work together to develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals and values. I am committed to clear communication, consistency, and fostering a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust. My hope is to support you in gaining insight, building resilience, and moving toward a more balanced and meaningful life.

First session
Your first session is a comprehensive, welcoming conversation focused on understanding you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. We’ll start by reviewing what brought you in, including any current concerns such as anxiety, mood changes, attention difficulties, sleep issues, or substance use. I’ll ask about your mental health history, medical background, medications, and any past treatments. We’ll also explore your lifestyle, stressors, support system, and goals for care so I can get a clear picture of what you’re experiencing and what matters most to you. This session is collaborative and judgment-free. You’ll have space to share your story at your own pace, ask questions, and clarify any concerns about treatment. If appropriate, we may discuss a diagnosis, treatment options, and whether medication could be helpful. I will explain the risks, benefits, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions about your care. Together, we’ll begin developing a personalized treatment plan, which may include medication management, supportive therapy, and evidence-based approaches such as CBT or motivational interviewing. We’ll also talk about next steps, follow-up appointments, and how we’ll track your progress over time. By the end of the session, you can expect to feel heard, have a clearer understanding of your mental health, and leave with a plan tailored to your needs.
Strengths
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the balance between clinical precision and genuine human connection. As a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I don’t view treatment as just symptom management—I focus on understanding the full context of a person’s life, including biological, psychological, and social factors that influence their mental health. My approach is collaborative and individualized. I integrate evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and supportive therapy, while also using medication management thoughtfully and conservatively. Rather than relying solely on prescriptions, I emphasize building insight, coping strategies, and sustainable habits that support long-term stability. I am particularly attentive to populations that are often underserved or require more nuanced care, including children and adolescents with ADHD, autism, and co-occurring conditions, as well as older adults who may have complex medical and psychiatric needs. I take extra care to tailor treatment in a way that is developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, and aligned with each patient’s goals. What patients often notice is my calm, nonjudgmental communication style and my ability to create a space where they feel heard and understood. I prioritize transparency—explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and the “why” behind recommendations—so patients feel empowered in their care. In terms of results, I focus on meaningful, functional improvements: better emotional regulation, increased focus and motivation, improved sleep, healthier coping mechanisms, and stronger overall quality of life. My goal is not just to help patients feel better in the moment, but to equip them with the tools and confidence to navigate challenges independently over time.
Ideal clients
I work with individuals across the lifespan, but I’m especially well positioned to support children, adolescents, and older adults with complex mental health needs. For children and teens, I focus on those navigating autism, ADHD, and co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, mood disorders, or behavioral challenges. I understand that these presentations are rarely one-dimensional, and I work closely with both the child and their caregivers to create practical, developmentally appropriate strategies that support functioning at home, school, and in social settings. I’m also deeply committed to caring for older adults. This population is often underserved despite facing unique vulnerabilities, including medical comorbidities, cognitive changes, grief, and social isolation. I take a thoughtful, patient-centered approach that prioritizes safety, dignity, and quality of life, while carefully considering the interaction between mental health, physical health, and medications.
Treatment methods
Supportive
My experience with supportive therapy involves integrating it into both medication management visits and dedicated psychotherapy sessions to help patients stabilize symptoms, improve coping, and strengthen overall functioning. In practice, I use supportive therapy to create a consistent, therapeutic alliance where patients feel safe, heard, and respected. This begins with active listening, validation of emotional experiences, and a nonjudgmental stance. I focus on reinforcing patients’ existing strengths, resilience, and adaptive coping strategies while gently guiding them toward healthier behaviors. Techniques I commonly use include encouragement, reassurance, reframing negative thoughts, and helping patients process current stressors or life transitions.
