I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with 10 years of clinical experience. I am licensed in the states of North Carolina and Texas. I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelors in Psychology. I work with children, teens, and adults in individual therapy, helping them to navigate the unique and complex challenges of life. Some of the modalities that I employ in my work include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, couples therapy, brainspotting, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and trauma- focused CBT.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll start by building our relationship. I'll take the time to understand you better, explain confidentiality, and address any questions you have about therapy. We'll talk about why you're here, what you want to achieve, and I'll ask about your background. You can ask anything you're curious about and begin exploring your therapy goals. This initial meeting also helps me see if we're a good match to support you on your therapeutic path.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, some of my strengths include empathy, active listening, and creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves. I use evidence-based techniques to tailor treatment to each individual's needs. I have a collaborative approach, working closely with clients to set achievable goals and track progress. Additionally, I continuously seek professional development to ensure the best quality of care for my clients.

My treatment methods

Psychoanalytic

With psychoanalytic therapy, I helps clients explore unconscious thoughts and emotions to gain insight into their behavior and relationships. This approach focuses on childhood experiences, dreams, and free association to uncover underlying issues. It aims to increase self-awareness and understanding of how past experiences influence present actions and emotions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a therapy approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. In my practice, I use CBT techniques to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful beliefs, develop coping strategies, and make positive changes in their thinking and behavior to improve their mental health and well-being.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care involves understanding the impact of trauma on individuals and integrating this knowledge into all aspects of care. In practice, I use trauma-informed care by creating a safe environment, prioritizing empowerment and choice, emphasizing collaboration, fostering trust, and being sensitive to triggers and reactions related to past trauma. This approach involves recognizing the prevalence of trauma and its effects, while promoting a sense of safety, trust, and empowerment for the individual receiving care.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting techniques involve using guidance to identify and process specific eye positions that correlate with emotional experiences or traumas. By focusing on these "brainspots," deeper levels of healing and resolution can be reached.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach that involves stimulating the brain's natural healing processes through bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or taps. During a session, the client focuses on traumatic memories or distressing thoughts while incorporating these bilateral stimulations. This process aims to help reprocess negative experiences and alleviate emotional distress by promoting adaptive processing of memories.
