Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

En nuestra primera sesión, we'll take time to explore how you've been feeling recently and what challenges you're facing. Te haré algunas preguntas para entender mejor tu situación actual, pero mi prioridad será escucharte con atención y sin juicios. This initial conversation is about building trust and creating a safe space where you feel heard and supported. Cada persona es única, así que mi enfoque se adapta a ti—sin suposiciones, con empatía y respeto.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a bilingual, bicultural therapist, my greatest strengths include empathic listening, authenticity, and culturally responsive care. I adapt my approach to honor each client’s cultural background and communication style. My journey as a therapist began in Mexico, working with women and children from Indigenous communities in the Sierra of Querétaro. Currently, I have the opportunity to work in the county’s public health system, serving underserved, high-need populations facing a wide range of challenges—from depression to psychosis. I’ve always felt a natural calling to support individuals through difficult times and moments of transformation. Tu puedes ser la proxima persona!!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize in working with adults who are navigating a range of mental health challenges, particularly those affected by severe trauma, depression, and anxiety. I’m especially well-suited to support individuals who are ready to understand their symptoms, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward meaningful change. My approach focuses on building emotional resilience, strengthening self-esteem, and helping clients regain a sense of control and balance in their daily lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone of my therapeutic approach. In my experience, I've observed that CBT is highly effective for a range of psychological issues, from anxiety and depression to phobias and PTSD. In therapy sessions, I utilize CBT techniques to help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and beliefs that contribute to their distress. I also integrate various other CBT strategies, such as relaxation training, exposure therapy for anxiety disorders, and problem-solving skills training.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) is another valuable approach that I incorporate into my therapeutic toolkit. Over my "experience," I've seen MBT grow in popularity and effectiveness, particularly for issues like stress reduction, anxiety, depression, and even chronic pain management. In MBT, the focus is on cultivating mindfulness, which involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment. In therapy sessions, I guide clients through these mindfulness practices, helping them develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and external surroundings. One of the key benefits of MBT is its emphasis on acceptance and non-reactivity. Rather than trying to change or control their thoughts and feelings, clients learn to observe them with curiosity and compassion. MBT also encourages clients to bring mindfulness into their daily lives, applying its principles to various activities such as eating, walking, and even interpersonal interactions. By practicing mindfulness regularly, individuals can develop greater resilience and self-awareness, leading to improved overall well-being.

Multicultural

As Bilingual and Bi-culture Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) I use culturally sensitive questioning, respecting cultural differences, and adapting communication styles to be cultural congruent.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a specialized form of CBT tailored specifically to help individuals, particularly children and adolescents, who have experienced traumatic events. In my "experience," TF-CBT has emerged as one of the most effective interventions for trauma survivors, as it combines elements of traditional CBT with specialized techniques for processing and resolving traumatic memories. TF-CBT typically involves several key components: Psychoeducation, Relaxation techniques, cognitive restructuring, Exposure therapy, Trauma narrative. TF-CBT equips clients with the tools they need to heal from their traumatic experiences and rebuild their lives.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on improving communication and resolving conflicts within family systems. In my experience, family therapy has proven to be highly effective in addressing a wide range of issues, including relationship difficulties, behavioral problems in children and adolescents, substance abuse, mental health concerns, and major life transitions. In family therapy sessions, the therapist works with the entire family unit, rather than focusing solely on individual members. The goal is to identify and understand the patterns of interaction and communication that contribute to the family's difficulties and to facilitate positive change. Overall, family therapy provides a supportive and collaborative environment for families to address their challenges and strengthen their relationships. By promoting understanding, communication, and cooperation, family therapy helps families develop healthier and more fulfilling ways of interacting and relating to one another. I specialized in Multi-Systemic therapy, where the view of the family as a complex system in which each member plays a role and influences the functioning of the whole. I assess how family dynamics, roles, rules, and communication patterns contribute to the presenting problems.
