Rachel Wallick

LPC7 years of experience

I work with individuals who want a deeper understanding of themselves and a space to safely explore who they are, how they relate to others, and what they truly want for their lives. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, workplace burnout, career transitions, secondary trauma, relationship difficulties, identity exploration, or the process of rebuilding after painful or unexpected circumstances. Together, we work to increase insight, strengthen self-confidence, improve communication and self-advocacy, and develop healthier, more connected relationships with both themselves and others. Therapy becomes a place to untangle old narratives, move beyond limiting beliefs, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been hidden beneath survival, pressure, fear, or exhaustion. Sometimes there is a quiet sense that life could feel more meaningful, connected, or aligned, but it can be difficult to know how to access that version of yourself while navigating stress, relationship challenges, self-doubt, or major life transitions. The past can shape the way we see ourselves, relate to others, and move through the world in ways we may not fully understand until we begin to slow down and explore them with curiosity and compassion. Clients may also find themselves stepping into new roles, navigating unexpected changes, or feeling called to reinvent, grow, or expand in ways that can feel both exciting and deeply uncertain. My approach is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and grounded in empathy and authenticity. I strive to create a space where clients from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences feel genuinely seen, respected, and safe enough to explore the parts of themselves they may have had to silence or protect. I believe healing is about reconnecting with your own voice, building trust in yourself, and creating a life that feels true to who you are. You are the expert in your own life!

First session

The first session is an opportunity for us to connect and begin building a foundation for our work together. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as yourself. During our first session, we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently navigating, and the goals or hopes you may have for this process. I’ll ask questions about your personal history, relationships, and life experiences so I can begin to understand the broader picture of your life and how these intersect with what brings you to therapy. We may also briefly review intake information, discuss your previous experiences with therapy if applicable, and explore what support might look like moving forward. We’ll spend time discussing expectations for therapy, answering any questions you may have, and talking about practical details such as session frequency. The first session is not about having everything figured out — it’s about creating a space where you can begin exploring your experiences with curiosity, honesty, and support at your own pace.

Strengths

My work as a therapist is grounded in the belief that people deserve to feel fully seen in the complexity of who they are—not reduced to symptoms, labels, or immediate circumstances. I have a strong capacity for holding nuance, supporting clients in making sense of both their resilience and their challenges, and helping them understand how their history, relationships, and internal experiences continue to shape their present. Clients often share that I have a strong ability to understand and reflect back their internal experience in a way that helps bring clarity to what previously felt hard to name, often describing moments of feeling deeply understood, which speaks to how I listen and my capacity to translate complex emotional experience into language that feels accurate and grounding. I bring a wide range of clinical experience across many settings and with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and clinical backgrounds, shaped in part by years of working and volunteering in nonprofit spaces. This work has deeply informed my compassion and grounded my understanding of resilience and the real-life complexity people carry. It has also fostered a steady, nonjudgmental presence that helps clients feel safe bringing forward parts of themselves that may not have been fully seen or supported elsewhere. My training at Oxford shaped the way I relate to meaning, narrative, and the human experience. It strengthened a philosophical lens in my work—an openness to exploring the deeper questions people carry about who they are, how they make sense of their lives, and the stories they have inherited or constructed along the way. I hold this alongside the heart and work as a creative, believing therapy is a deeply creative space—one where we can explore story, emotion, and the ongoing process of becoming. There is something profoundly creative about healing: the ability to reimagine your relationship with yourself, your past, and your future. Some people come to therapy holding mixed feelings about whether this is the right time or place for them to begin. I aim to meet you exactly where you are, without agenda or pressure. Building trust begins there—creating a space where you don’t have to be further along, clearer, or more ready than you actually feel. This is your time, your process, and your space, and my role is to support you in a way that aligns with what you need and what you hope to get from our work together.

Ideal clients

I work best with individuals who are thoughtful, self-aware, and longing to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the patterns that shape their lives. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, emotionally stuck, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about who they are becoming. Some are navigating depression, workplace stress, career transitions, relationship challenges, secondary trauma, or major life changes that have left them questioning their direction, identity, or sense of purpose. Others are seeking support after devastating or unexpected circumstances and want help finding steadiness, meaning, and hope in the unknown ahead. I am passionate about helping clients increase insight, strengthen self-confidence, and reconnect with their authentic selves. Together, we explore the narratives clients carry about themselves — often shaped by past experiences, relationships, anxiety, perfectionism, or survival patterns — and work toward creating more compassionate, empowered, and aligned ways of relating to themselves and the world around them. Therapy becomes a space for curiosity, reflection, healing, and growth, where clients can safely ask deeper questions about who they are, how they relate to others, and what they truly want for their lives. My ideal clients are often individuals who want more than symptom relief alone. They desire a deeper sense of fulfillment, self-trust, emotional connection, and authenticity. They may be learning how to communicate more effectively, set boundaries, self-advocate, navigate healthy relationships, or heal patterns that have impacted intimacy and connection. Many are professionals, caregivers, creatives, or high-functioning individuals who outwardly appear capable but internally feel exhausted, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward in a way that truly feels like them.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, nervous system responses, and behaviors. Together, we explore patterns that may be contributing to stress, self-doubt, anxiety, or feeling stuck, while developing practical tools to create lasting change. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on helping you move toward a life that feels more fulfilling, aligned, and grounded in self-trust.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, I support clients in creating a deeper connection with themselves while learning how to move forward even in the presence of fear, uncertainty, or pain. This work encourages curiosity, mindfulness, and self-compassion while helping you reconnect with your values, purpose, and the parts of yourself that may have been hidden beneath survival or overwhelm. I believe healing is not about becoming someone else, but about returning to who you already are underneath limiting beliefs and old patterns.

Psychodynamic

My psychodynamic approach invites space for reflection, insight, and exploration of how past experiences may still shape present emotions, relationships, identity, and self-worth. Together, we look beneath the surface to better understand recurring patterns, relational dynamics, and protective strategies developed over time. I believe curiosity and self-understanding can create powerful transformation and help you find greater freedom, authenticity, and connection in your life and relationships.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Using Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I help clients identify and understand their emotions, build emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills in a way that feels practical and empowering. My approach balances acceptance and change — honoring the reality of your pain while also helping you develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence, clarity, and self-compassion. Therapy becomes a space where you can safely explore your emotions, strengthen your voice, and learn how to show up for yourself and others in meaningful ways.

Attachment-based

Through an attachment-based approach, I help clients explore how early relationships, emotional experiences, and patterns of connection may influence the ways they relate to themselves and others today. Together, we work toward creating a greater sense of emotional safety, self-worth, and trust within relationships while gently untangling patterns rooted in fear, abandonment, people-pleasing, emotional disconnection, or inconsistency. I believe healing often happens within safe, attuned relationships, and therapy can become a space where you experience being seen, understood, and supported in new ways that foster deeper connection and lasting transformation.
